We give the above engraving by the kind permission of the York Brethren , and of Bro . Todd , as Ave think that it may prove interesting to the Craft at home and abroad . We call attention to the accompanying commentary on the engraving , as there can be no doubt that it is an authentic record , and adds value to the representation , and confirms the old tradition of the York Brotherhood .
It is just possible that in this minute of the York Grand Chapter Ave find the continuation of an old practice of the York Grand Assembly . There is no reason Avh y , " a priori , " it should not be so , and Ave think it more than probable that such Avas the case , and if it were so , we find another proof of the close relationship existing between the Church in those days , and the Masonic Guild .

"In the minute book of the Grand Chapter formerly held at York ( which is in the custody of the York Lodge ) , there is a record that on Sunday , May 27 , I 77 S , the Royal
Arch Brethren assembled in the ancient Lodge , now a sacred recess within the Cathedral Church of York , and then and there opened a Chapter of Free and Accepted Masons of the Most Sublime Degree of Royal Arch , " This , in all probability , was the last occasion Avhen a Masonic meeting Avas held therein . " We trust that , from an archaeological point of view , this extract from the York Grand Chapter Minute Book , will justify our printing the Vignette for the information and approval of the Brethren .
