In the course of the evening , the W . M . proposed the health of the late Secretary , and concluded a feeling and an appropriate address by presenting Bro . Clarke , amid much applause , with a silver teapot , of exquisite design , and of beautiful workmanship , as a token of remembrance from the
Brethren of that Lodge , among whom he laboured with zeal and efficiency during many years . It was , indeed , a gratifying display of kindly feeling and affection , that was duly reciprocated , although not without much emotion , by the recipient . The cause of the widow and the orphan—that just claim upon the Masonic order - —was not overlooked upon this festive occasion ; and , after a most agreeable evening , the members retired , mutually gratified with the proceedings characteristic of peace , charity , and brotherly love .

Limerick . —Union Lodge ( No . 13 ) . —This Lodge met on Thursday , 27 th Dec ., at high noon , to iristal their " officers for the present year , and having adjourned , met again for refreshment at Lynch ' s Hotel , Bedford-row , at six o ' clock , p . m . An unusually large attendance of the Brethren was present , and several guests also honoured No . 13 with their company—guests distinguished no less in Masonic than in social position . Amongst them were Major-General Sir James C . Chatterton , 33 rd K . H ., Brov . G . M . of Munster ; Lord Dunboyne , Bast Officer of the Grand Lodge of Ireland ; Lieut .-Col . Halkett ; Major Forster ; Bro . J . V .
Mackey , of Lodge No . 50 ; members of No . 44 , & c . Of course it is needless to say , that our own Most Illustrious and R . W . Brov . G . M . ( North Munster ) , Bro . Michael Furnell , 33 rd , was at his post , with all a father ' s love and care , watching over his Masonic children , and promoting , as he always does , the practice of rational enjoyment , while mindful , at the same time , to inculcate the exercise of every moral and social virtue . In the course of the evening , deputations bearing the usual messages of peace , love , and harmony , were exchanged between this and the sister Lodge , No . 27 .
