STTMMAEY OF KEWS FOR JULY .

The return of the quarter ' s revenue , wmich closed on the 30 th June , shows an increase of £ 422 , 052 upon the produce of the corresponding quarter in last year . The details are thus given : —Increase—Customs , £ 96 , 415 ; excise , £ 241 , 626 ; property-tax , £ 116 , 995 ; crown lands , £ 1 , 000 ; total , £ 456 , 036 . Decrease—Stamps , £ 13 , 895 ; taxes , 3 ; 005 ; post-office , £ 9 , 000 ; miscellaneous , £ 8 , 084 ; total , £ 33 , 984 ; net increase , £ 422 , 052 .

THE REVENUE

The increase on the year ending with the 30 th of June , 1856 , is also very satisfactory ; it amounts to no less than £ 4 , 101 , 620 , as compared with the year that closed on the 30 th of June , 1855 .

IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT . In the House of Lords , on the 30 th June , the Royal Assent having been given to several private Bills , the Earl of Derby withdrew the Oaths of Abjuration Bill ; and the Joint Stock Companies Bill was read a third time and passed . On the 1 st July , a Committee was appointed to consider the cause of the extravagant fees payable on a representative peer for Ireland taking his seat . On the 3 rd , the

Reformatory and Schools Bill was read a third time ; and the Divorce Bill advanced a stage . On the 4 th , the last-named Bill was read a third time ; and the Cambridge University Bill went through Committee . On the 7 th , the Nawab of Surat Treaty Bill was negatived . On the 8 th , Lord Panmure , in answer to a question , stated that lie took the responsibility upon himself of having selected Baron Marochetti to design the Scutari monument . A Bill was brought in and

read a first time on the 18 th , to enable the Bishops of London and Durham to resign their sees , and according to them retiring pensions . Several important Bills were advanced a stage on the following day . There was a debate on the Italian question on the 14 th , but it led to no practical result , beyond an expression of opinion that France and England must support the Xing of Sardinia
