On the 10 th , the Olympic Theatre was opened for the first time under the management of Mr . Robson . On the 10 th , also , the Right Hon . John Wilson Croker , for many years editor pf the Quarterly Review , died at the residence of Judge Wightman , near Hampton Court .- '" ' On the 13 th , the electors of Oxford gave a public entertainment to their able representative , the Right Hon . Mr . Card well .

On the 14 th , a public park was opened for the use of the inhabitants of the town of Halifax . It is the munificent gift of Mr . F . Crossley , M . P ., to his townsmen and constituents . Dn the 15 th , a public statue of the lateDaniel O'Connell / M . P ., was uncovered at Limerick . . f On the 17 th , the Royal Agricultural Society of Ireland , held its annual meeting at Waterford . The show is said to have been an excellent one .

On the 20 th , two men were executed at Maidstone , one for the murder of his former sweetheart , and the other for a most bloodthirsty act of fratricide .

On the 25 th , an important meeting was held at the Mansion House for the relief of the sufferers by the Indian mutiny . On the same day , there was an indignation meeting of the shareholders of the Surrey Gardens Company , who complain of fraud and robbery on the part of the Directors .
