Tlie vice chairs wore ably filled by Bros . AV . Charlton , S . AV ., No . 70 S ; supported by Andrew Gillespie , S . AV ., No . Ii ; ancl AV . Pearson , J . AA ., No . 793 , supported by Michael Siguey , J . AV ., No . 21 , & c , & c . Grace having been said by the Rev . Bro . Eaton , aucl the cloth removed , the chairman , Bro . Harding , proposed " The Queen , " which was drunk with the usual honours . Then followed the

ordinary Masonic toasts , ivhich were warmly responded to . Bro . Barker , P . M ., in a warm eulogium , proposed the health of Bro . Alexander , AY . M . No . 793 , whom he characterised as a most worthy brother , dilating at the same time upon Bro . Alexander ' s excellent moral qualifications . Bro . Alexander made a feeling reply , Bro . Bell , P . M ., proposed the health of the worthy chairman , Bro . Harding , No . 24 , and iu doing so , said that iu public life Bro . Harding was very much respected , ancl in private life warmly beloved . Bro . Harding responded " ancl saicl , ho felfc

proud of the good opinion of the Craft , ancl trusted that any error ho might commit , might be of the head aucl not of the heart . The AA . M . proposed the health of Rev . Bro . Eaton , who briefly replied . Several other toasts were proposed and heartily responded to . Bro . Fisher , P . M ., gave the "Ladies , " which was received ivith much applause , and answered by Bro . Alexander . Songs and recitations , by several of the Brethren , added a charm and conviviality to the proceedings . It may be worthy of notice , thafc Bro . Alexander , AA . M . of No . 793 , began his year of office with very prosperous prospects ; for a Lodge of Emergency was called on 2 'ifch December , for the purpose of balloting for , aucl initiating five Brethren into the mysteries of the ancient Order .

Halliday , having opened the Lodge iu the first degree , a letter was read by the worthy Secretary ancl P . M ., Bro . Heury Bridges , from Bro . C . H . Gregory , P . M ., ancl Prov . G . Steward , asking the support of the Lodge to the Freemasons' Magazine and Masonic Mirror ; ami , on the motion of Bro . J . D . Saunders , S . AA ., it was agreed that the Lodgo should subscribe for two numbers weekly . Bro . Bridges then stated that Bro . Gregory was a steward of the Royal

Masonic Benevolent Institution for Aged Freemasons and their AVidows , ancl that the festival would be held on A \ eduesduy next , the 20 th January ; and he ( Bro . Bridges ) , with his liberal heart to all Masouiu charities , asked for a contribution from tho Lodge funds , as well as tho individual support of the members . After a short discussion , it was unanimously agreed that tho Loclge should subscribe £ 2 per annum , the same to be equally divided between each fund ; in addition to ivhich the Brethren , with their wonted liberality , subscribed tho sum

of £ 12 5 s ., making a total of £ 11 U . The AV . M . having temporarily vacated the chair , Bro . Bridges , P . M . with his well known skill ancl ability , passed Bro . Curtoys , and raised Bro . AVadc . The Lodge was then closed , ancl the Brethren adjourned to a recherche dinner .
