Shortly before 3 o'clock , the brethren went in procession to the Cathedral , where the Prov . G . Chaplain , the Eev . J . Rust , preached an impressive sermon , inculcating the duties of practical morality . At the conclusion of the sermon , a collection was made in aid of the Norwich Dispensary , amounting to £ 16 lis . The collection was larger than has been made for many years . The brethren re-a-sembleii to dinner at the Masonic Hall , at 5 o ' clock , when a first-chiss entertainment was provided .

4 th Oct . last , ancl Mr . William Wheatley , wdio was balloted for and accepted on the 1 st of Nov . inst ., were initiated into the first degree of Freemasonry . The S . W . proposed , and I . G . Hai gh seconded , that the Annual Masonic Ball he held in the early part of the coming year , and that a committee be at once formed to make the necessary arrangements to carry out the same , which was carried unanimously . Sharp as a candidate for Freemasonry . Hearty good wishes being expressed from tbe Kingston , 1010 , Minerva , 250 , Pelham Pillar , 792 , Londesbro , 734 , ancl other lodges , and ordered to be recorded . Tbe lodge was then closed in due and ancient form , and with solemn prayer . The brethren then adjourned to the Banquet Hall in the same building , where seventy-two sat down to supper , W . M . Bro . William Needier occupying the chair , supported by his officers . Tho supper was prepared in the kitchen

of tho loelge , where there is every convenience for cooking for 150 persons . It was placed upon tlie table under the superintendence ofthe Chief Steward , Bro . James AValker , assisted by the other Stewards of the lodge , all of whom acted as waiters . Very few lodges are capable of preparing and serving such a sumptuous banquet as the brethren of the Humber Lodge sat down to that evening . On the removal of the cloth , the W . M . gave the first toast— " the Queen and the Craft . " Bro . Dr . Hay , P . M ., gave

" the Prince of AVales , Past Grand Master . " Bro . John AA ^ alker , P . M , ancl P . Prov . G .
