, , AV . M ., of Lodge 69 , and AVilliam Thompson , J . P ., P . M ., 69 , who , inconsequence of magisterial duties , were unable to attend ; also , one from Bro . Sir James A . Stewart , Bart , P . G . M ., expressing his regret that , through illness , he was unable to be present at the installation . A letter from the Provincial Grand Master appointing Bro . Captain AVm . Edward Scott D . Prov . G . M ., was read , after which the installation ceremony was ably

performed by Bro . Dale , and the usual salutations given by tbe brethren present . Bro . T . G . M'Murray was then installed by Bro . Scott in the office of Prov . G . S . AV . On the proceedings of the Provincial Grand Lodge being brought to a close , Bro . Captain Scott invited tbe brethren to meet him at luncheon at two o'clock , p . m ., in the Northern Hotel . The cloth having been Temoved , the usual loyal and masonic toasts were given and responded to , after which the brethren separated , much gratified with the day ' s proceedings , about half-past three o ' clock . It is only due to Bro . M'Hutchinson to say that the luncheon was served in his usual good style .

LONDONDERRY . —Provincial Grand Master's Lodge ( No . 52 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held in the Masonic Rooms , Strand-road , on AVednesday , the 26 th ult ., when there were present , —Bros . James Skipton , AV . M . ; Conolly Skipton , P . M ., Sec . ; Rev . P . Robinson , Chap , and S . D . ; Aeheson AA . Sinvtb , and P . A . Jacobson . Alsitors : —William Hanna , P . Ji ., Sec , No . 104 ; and James A . M'Lellan , 640 . The minutes of the Inst meeting were read and confirmed . Bro .

Hanna brought before the lodge the fact of a Lodge of Instruction having been established , and those members present who had not previously done so , enrolled their names as members . Bro . C . Skipton proposed , and Bro . Smyth seconded , Bro . K . Gamble , Livat . li . A ., of Lodge 891 , as an honorary member . The next business was the election of officers for the ensuing six months , which resulted as follows ;—Bros . Henry J . M'CorkellAV . M . ; Charles A . SmythS . W . Rev . Percy

An adjourned motion as to change of the hour of meeting was then brought forward , and after considerable discussion was again postponed . The lodge was then closed .

DOXLE ' S LODGE OF FELLOWSHIP , ( NO . 84 ) . —This lodge met on the evening of AVednesday the 12 th May , and a goodly number of members and visitors were present , amongst them were : Bros . Gallienne , P . D . Prov . G . M . ; Gardner . W . M . in the chair ; Martin , I . P . M . ; Guilbert , P . M . ; Stickland , P . M . ; Milling-ton , J . AV . ClarkeAct . SecS PMCoheuIGBougourd ;

The time for meeting named in tho summons was 7 punctually , and a few members were present at that hour or within a short time after , the majority however were much later , and the lodge was not

opened until nearly a quarter to eight . The minutes of the last lodge having been read and confirmed , Bros . Sharpe and Collings , were raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by the AV . M ., in the same excellent manner in which during his term of office , he has carried out all his work . He also gave the traditionary history of the third degree illustrated by reference to the tracing board , in a manner which proved he had well studied and was completely master of his subject . This was one of tbe most solemn and at

the same time melancholy Masonic meetings it has ever been our lot to attend . The sudden death of Bro . Muntz , J . D . of tho lodge , ( referred to iu another portion of these pages ) was in itself enough on such an occasion to depress the spirits of all present , and cause them to think deeply ou the awful uncertainty attending this life ; ( his vacant chair alas too sad and sure a proof ) but when it is considered that with the exception of one or two , every brother had only a few hours previously returned from

witnessing the lowering of the body of their lost brother into the grave , all Masonic readers of this , will understand how the figurative ceremonies of the third degree were painfully increased ; all were sensibly affected , many very much so . Bro . Gallienne read in a feeling manner and with his usual good taste a funeral oration , front Preston ' s well-known work . This Beautiful composition is most marked with religious gravity , and was peculiarly

applicable to the melancholy circumstance which was the cause of its delivery . The lodge room was in mourning and will remain so for three months . By a notice conspicuously exhibited in the ante-rooai , all brethren were requested to attend in the habiliments of mourning . Thanks are due to Bro . Churchouse for his kind performance on the harmonium . The lodge was closed shortly after nine , and all at once separated , no refreshment of any kindlieing partaken of .

The minutes of the last meetings were read and confirmed , and a communication was read from the District Grand Lodge , summonsing the officers and brethren to Victoria for the quarterly communication , to be held in that town on the 11 th March ; also communication from Masons of the S . R . in Victoria , asking for united action in forming an independent Grand Lodge , free from Great Britain . No action was taken on thisas it had not come through the District

, Grand Lodge , who no doubt would pass some resolution on the subject at their meeting on the 11 th , it being on their summons as one of the affairs to be discussed ; also communications from lodges at Carrhoo , S . R . ; Victoria , East , E . R , and S . R . ; Burrard ' s Inlet , S . R . ; and Narraimo East , relating to officers installed to preside over the lodges during the present year , and other Masonic matters , all of which were ordered to be placed on the file . Mr . Ovid Allardof Langleymade application to this

, , lodge to be made a Mason : also Mr . Christopher Leo , of New AVestminster . Both applications were referred to a committee of three , -with orders for them to report at the next regular meeting . Bro . Thomas E .
