C . ivell , W . M ., presided . Bvo . Chapman being u candidate for the third degree , ivas properly introduced , and raised to the sublime degree , of a . "Master Mason by Bro . ( J . Bolton , P . M . i he propriety of" moving tho lodge was discussed , and the brethren were unanimous in favour of meeting afc some other
house . The business being ended , the brethren separated . 'WELLIXGTOX LODGE ( NO . 805 ) . —An emergency meeting of ' his lodge ivas held on Wednesday , June 11 th , afc the Clarendon Anns Tavern , Upper Lewisham Road , Deptford . The business of the meeting was to ballot for and initiate Mr . 13 . Skinner . The lodge ivas opened by Bro . Bentley , W . JI ., assisted by his officers . , , a substantial banquet . This was the first time the lodge met afc this house . We believe tho lodge will increase and prosper here , the house "being much bettor -adapted for a lodge than their old meeting house . We congratulate the brethren on their choice , and hope once more to see this lodge restored to its former strength . We were glad to see the return of some of the old faces . There was a good muster of the brethren . Tho lodge was duly opened with prayer , ancl the minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed . Bro . Deesafter having answered the
, necessary questions , was raised to the sublimeijdcgree of a M . M . JBro . Wheately having acquitted himself as an industrious E . A ., and rendered everything pertaining to that degree with great credit , was passed so the degree of a P . C . The ceremonies were conducted , and performed by the worthy P . M ., Bro . P . \ V . II proposed " The Deputy Grand Master , Earl de-Grey and Ripon , ancl the rest of the Grand Lodge Officers , ' ,, and begged to connect with it the name of Bro . Westall , who I was a Mason of long standing , having taken perhaps
moredegrees than any brother present , ancl who hacl been kind enough to undertake the Chaplaincy of the Lodge of which he ( Captain Pender ) ivas Master . ( Applause ) . —The Pj _ r . Pro . WESTALL said , as a Past Grand Steward merely , he was scarcely entitled to rank as an Officer of Grand Lodge . The position of Steward was an intermediate one , but the duties attaching to it were sufficiently arduous , as any one who had served ifc could testify .
