SUFFOLK . Irsivicu . — Prudence Encampment . —The Sir Knights of this Encampment met at the Masonic Hull , on Wednesday , the 27 th ult ., under the banner of their Eminent Commander , Sir Knight C . Almoner , Northumberland ; & c . The ordinary business of the encampment having been concluileel , the D . P . G . Commander announced that the Grand Commander of tlie province , Sir Knt . N . G . Philips , proposed to hold his Prov . Granel Conclave in connexion with tbe Pruelence Encampment , about the third week in May . The gratifying intelligence

was received most favourably , and with every demonstration of respect and satisfaction . The D . P . G . C . then , ou the invitation of the E . G ., delivered a very able and highly interesting lecture on an episode in Templar History , relative to the re-capture by the Infidels of the Hol y City , under Saladin , and the destruction of the Latin Kingdom in Palestine . The address was li .-tened to with marked attention , and a vote of thanks accorded to the Eminent Sir Knt ., for bis learned disscrtuti n , which , it was

hoped , would be thc precursor of others on the same subjecttho History of the Templars . The Encampment having been closed , a banquet was served in the diniiig-hall attached to the lodge ; and on the removal of the cloth , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given . Eminent anel Supreme Grand Master , Colonel Stuart , " was next given with all due honours ; followed by the name of " The Uev . J . Huyshe , the V . E . DG . Master , and the rest of the office rs of Grand Conclave . The latter toast was coupled with the name of Sir Knt ., the Uev . R . N . Sanderson , Past Grand Expert , who in responding , intimated that a very- distinguished personage was about to join tbe Order , which was increasing in power and numbers ; and that although in consequence of tlie union of the

three grand capitular bodies of England , Ireland , and Scotland , many changes anil concessions would have to be made both in ritual and piaetiee ; be believed it would all iewl to the aelvantage of the Knights Templar . "Ihe health of the Prov . Grand Commander , Sir Kut . N . G . Philips , " was very cordially given , with all the honours due to that distinguished officer . The D . P . G . C proposed "The health of Sir Kid . Davy , tlie E . C . of tho Prudence Encampment . " He felt sure the encampment

must prosper under bis baton . tSir Knt . Davy moelcstly responded . The E . C . proposed " The 0 / lioers of the Prudence Encampment , coupled with the name of Sir Knt . Chambers , 1 st Capt ., " who , in responding , expressed the pleasure be had derived from listening to the learned and interesting lecture of Sir Knt . Sanderson , and ho hoped that the Sir Knights wonM not separate without an assurance from tlle D . P . G . C , that the encampment would be favoured with a repetition of ' . he treat .

Other toasts followed , and a very agreeable evening was spent by tlle biethren , who had met for the Iirst lime at the Masonic Hall . It is a I'cmnrkaLiio circumstance that the massacres near Athens , so remote , should have affected the families of tho Em-Is De Grey and Carnarvon , postponed tlio installation ceremonies at Freemasons' Hall , and interfei-cd with the arrangements of many hundred leading members of the Masonic Craft . It is , likewise , worthy

of note that one of the victims , a near relative of the D . G . JL designate , namely , lira , Herbert , was a member of our Order . _ Being engaged in tbe diplomatic service as a Junior , with little rest and no long sojourn in any place , he could take no active part in Masonry , for in somo of his places of residence no lodges existed .
