Graud Lodge , having been received with the usual Masonic honours , the regular business of the Royal Sussex Lodge was proceeded with , and a ballot was taken for three candidates and two joining members . The AA . M ., Bro . Charles II . Low , then initiated , in his usual effective manner , the following gentlemen : —Mr . J . B . Low ( brother of the AV . M . ); Mr . AA m . Patterson ( a son of the eminent ship-builder , at Bristol ) ,

aud Mr . Frederick Lucas ( brother of Mr . Saml . Lucas , the literary critic of the Times . ) Bro . AVm . D . Bushell , then shortly , but impressively , addressed tho newly initiated candidates and tho younger members of tho Lodge , urging them . to follow in the Masonic footsteps of their fathers , most of whom the speaker had been in the habit of meeting within tho walls of that Masonic Hall , The R . AV . D . Prov . Grand Master , and brethren of tho Prov . Grand Lodge , soon afterwards retired , a candidate and a joining member were proposed , and the Lodge was closed in perfeot harmony at a little before tcu o ' clock , r . a .

CHANNEL ISLANDS . ST . HWiiisn , JERSEY . —la Ge ' sarcc Lodge ( No . 860 ) . —May 26 th was the eighth anniversary of the foundation of this Lodge , which formed a now era in the history of the Order by affording a means , under the warrant of the Grand Lodge of England , for our French neighbours to join in the rites of the Craft , by the employment of their own language ; and was celebrated not only by the holding of tho usual monthl

y meeting , but by the installation of the new officers and a banquet . The latter was of the usual kind under such circumstances , when social happiness and fraternal feelings prevailed , and mutual congratulations and compliments were exchanged , an account of which can have no interest beyond tho immediate sphere of tho members—it is therefore not intruded in these pages . The AA . M ., Le G ' ras , baring opened the Lodge , thc routine business was performed ; the annual accounts of tho Treasurer were rendered and approved , as might well be the ease , since they presented a favourable financial statement .
