ON THE DEATH OP A YOUNG LADY WHO DJED ON THE DAY FIXED FOR HER MARRIAGE ; By Bro . J . C . MANNING . Scarco nineteen summors had breathod their bloom , Had breathod their bloom on hor dainty cheek , When they boro her awa ; r to tho voiceless tomb ,

With hearts so full they wero like to broak . And down in tho churchyard , old and groon , In tho churchyard greon , whoro tho yow-troo wavos , A dark little mound of earth is soon , Ono billow moro to tho sea of graves . " Ah , mo ! " 'twas said , in tho gorgeous light , In tho gorgeous light of a purplo

" So , down in tho churchyard , old and greon , Iu tho churchyard groon , whoro tho yow-troe wavos , A dark littlo mound of earth is soon , Ono billow moro to tho sea oi graros .

For nineteen summers had breathod thoir bloom , Had breathed their bloom on hor dainty chock—And they boro her away to tho voicoloss tomb , With hearts so full they woro like to broak . With hearts so full—ovon this belief Dispell'd not a tear from thoir aching oyes ; Though they saw their beloved , through clouds of grief . An angel boyoud in tho goldon skies .

AT tho age of twenty wo think that life' is much to long for that which wo havo to do , aud that tlicro is almost a fabulous distauco between our ago aud that of our grandfather : but when , at the ago oi sixty , if we are fortunate ouough to reach it , or unfortunate enough , as the cuss may bo , and as wo havo spent or wasted our time , wo halt and look back along tho way wo havo conio : thou it is we discover that wo havo made life short and thrown a largo portion of it . Thenin trying to balance
