YORKSHIRE ( NORTH AND EAST . ) HULL . —Minerva Lodge of Mark Masters ( No . 12 ) . —The regular quarterly meeting of this lodge was held on Monday evening , tbe 6 th inst ., in the Masonic Hall , Prince-street , at which were present—Bros . XV . Reynolds , W . M . ; J . N . Scberling , S . W . ; J . Linwood , J . W . ; M . C . Peck , P . M ., Sec . ; W . K . Brown , M . O . ; H . Haigh , S . O . ; A . Rannursoii , as J . O . ; G . The lodge having been opened in form , the ballot box was prepared for six brethren , all of whom were accepted , and four being jiresent , viz .: Bros . J . II . Ernes , W . D . Keyworth , XV . Tesseyman , and H . K . Sowne , were admitted and regularly advanced to this honourable degree , Bro . M . C . Peek , P . M ., giving the
charge in the centre , and Bro . Hardy the working tools . The circular of the Grand Secretary respecting the establishment of a Fund of Benevolence in connection with the Grand Lodge was then considered , when the lodge resolved that it was undesirable to establish such fund in the manner proposed , the present fees to Grand Lodge being considered sufficiently high for the ¦ prosperity of the Order . Two brethren were then proposed for ballot at the next meeting , and hearty good wishes having been expressed , the lodge was closed in form and with solemn prayer .

Lord Derby replied in tho affirmative , but insisted that tho inquiry should bo a comprehensive ono , and include all matters
affecting tho performance of public worship . Several of tho bishops united in thanking Lord Doily , and Lord Shaftesbury concluded tho discussion by affirming that tho subject was ripo for settlement . Lord Lyttolton moved tho socond reading of his bill to enable the Crown to erect now bishoprics , and after some discussion it was read a socond time . Tho Archbishop of Cantor
