THE POLISH PATRIOT IN SIBERIA . By Mrs . L . A . CZ . VRSECKI . Torn from friends who loved him In a desert sad and lone : No ono to sootho or cheer him , Tlio joy of life all gone . Hope , oven it bath left him
Nought now but fear and pam Ho knows bis own loved country , Ho will novor soe again . For his noblo deeds from freedom , A dreary mine bis doom ; Condemned for life to linger
In that cold and living tomb . Ho thinks on seonos of childhood AVhoro happy bo did roam , Of lovo that crowned bis manhood Iu bis sweet and peaceful home . Now bis proud and martial form Is bent with griof ancl caro ;
AA'kilo on bis thin , pale features Aro lines o £ deep despair . His heart is seared with anguish , No hope nor help is nigh -, And in bis bitter agony Ho wildly prays to die . Thou groat and omnipresent God ,
Thy sure mercy ' s everywhere , Oh may that sinking spirit Fool thy presence evon there An earthly monarch ' s vengeance Kills not tlio immortal soul ; His fiorce and fiory wrath O ' er it has no control .
Then give to that poor captive AA'hat only thou oan'st giro , Tho faith that will sustain him To boar bis cross and live . Tho poaco which passoth knowledge , That worlds cannot tako away , Shall light that heart so lonely , AA'ith a beam ol heavenly ray .
'Twill guide him onward , upward To that crown of priceless cost , Whore in thoso glorious mansions Ho'll regain what ho has lost .

MASONIC SONG .
Written as a farewell to Inhabitants Lodge ( No . 153 ) , Gibraltar ly Bro . C . A . ' GOHHAM , P . M ., in 1860 , of that , his mother lodge I shall no ' or forgot the night AA'hen I first was shown tho light , And with joy became a brother of tbe mystic tie ; That night when first I quaffed To tbe Queen and to tbe Craft , No , I novor shall forgot it till I dio .
AA'hen elected to tho chair , And invested with tho square , For twolvo months I among you bad tho honour to preside ; When I first might seize tho gavel , And our mysteries unravel , To some noopbyto I folt an honest pride . "I felt" I fool it yet
, , For I novor can forgot , Though tossod about in many distant climes , You kind Masonic greetings At tho over pleasant mooting . ? AYbich I shared in those morry , happy times . Though wo now aro forced to part , I shall boar you in my heart , Ancl to mo at least tho parting will be fraught with
pain ; We so happily havo met , AVo can't part without rogret , Let us hopo that wo ore long may meet again .
