JKorAi JDEAitATic COSEEGE . —The annual fete and fancy fair of the above admirable institution takes place at the Crystal Palace this day , 13 th , and Monday , loth ; and when wo perceive that upwards of thirty ladies and ninety gentlemen connected ivith the stage and musical world have engaged to bo present

and take part in the proceedings , considering also the programme issued by tlicm to amuse the public , all ive can add is , that it is our hope their efforts will be crowned ivith the success they so Avorthily deserve for the energy put forth to support so valuable an institution .

JDALHOUSIE LODGE ( NO . SG 5 ) . —Tiie usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held at tho Tavern Hall , Hounsloiv , on Wednesday . Bro . T . Morris . AV . M ., supported by Bros . Dr . Key Hardey , W . M . 753 , as S . W .,- A- A . Richards , P . M ., as J . W . ; H . A . Stacey , P . M . and Sec . ; Pent , Wheeler , Thomason , and several visitors . The lodge ivas duly formed , ivhen Bro , A . A . Richards most ably installed Bro . C . II . Pedler as . W . M . for the ensuing yearwho appointed his officers as folloiv : —Bros . Dr .

Tho W . JI . then initiated Messrs . Thomas Woods , jun ., Joseph Clarkson , William Simpson Laivson , and Charles Mead . He also passed to the second degree Bro . Joseph Pigott , 753 , and gave the third degree to Bro . B . JR . Johnson , ISO , all of ivhieh ceremonies were

performed in a most creditable manner , after which the brethren , numbering over twenty , sat down to an excellent banquet , provided by Bro . T . Leivis , at tho Red Lion Hotel , in his accustomed excellent style . Tho W . JI ., in proposing the health of her Majesty the Queen , said he sincerely hoped that she ivould be graciously pleased to show herself a little more frequently among the metropolitan portion of her subjects . Then followed the healths of the Earl of Zetland . M . W . G . M ..

the Earl de Grey and Ripon , the Deputy G . JI ., and the rest of the Grand officers . The W . M . then proposed the health of tho initiates , and said that it was a most pleasing duty . He ivas pleased to say that he had tho honour of initiating four gentlemen , - ivhieh fact promised a prosperous year , for without new Wood Preemasonry ivould come to a standstill , ivhieh he was happy to say could never be the ease . Ho congratulated the initiates on the choice they had madeand ivould call their

, attention to a speech delivered in one of the first lodges iu Prance by Abdul Kader , who said : — " In the persons hero present I thank Preemasonry in every country . I consider Preemasonry as the first institution iu the world . In my opinion every man who docs not profess Preemasonry is an incomplete man . I hope that one day all the principles of Freemasonry will prevail throughout the world , and , from that day forward , all the nations

will be at peace . " And he would state that in 1865 , in England alone , 10 , 000 men were admitted into the ancient and honourable Order . Bro . Thomas Woods , jmi ., returned thanks in the name of the initiates , acknowledging that he knew but little of Preemasonry at present , and with that little he ivas very pleased , but he hoped to know much more . Ho trusted this kind feeling would always prevail tlirouglioiifc the Craft , and he kindly thanked the W . JI . and the lodge on behalf of the

visitors for the courteous aud fraternal reception they had met with . The W . Master then gave the toast of the P . M- ' s , and said it ivas a very pleasing duty ho had to perform , which was , iu the name of the Lodge , to 2 ) re 3 ellt Bro . T . Norris ivith a P . M . ' s jeivel . On placing it on Bro . Bro . A . A . Richards had performed the ceremony of installation , also for tho able assistauco ho had received from tho other officers of tho lodgo , particularly from Bro . H . A . Stacey , Sec , ivho had not . sinco tho foundation of tho lodgo , been absent on one occasion . Bro . Richards , P . JI ., and Bro . Stacoj- responded . Tho brethren then separated , all highly pleased with tho manner iu ivhieh everything had boon arranged . The brethren woro then obliged to boat a hasty retreat , owing to tho last train to town being , by tho caprice of tho railway authorities , fixed for the early hour of ton o ' clock , ivhieh train occupied an hour and a quarter to perforin tho journey of thirteen miles .

CUMBERLAND AND WESTMORELAND . LOXGTOWJ .. —Holy Temple Lodge ( No . 412 ) . —Tho regular monthly meeting of the above lodgo was held on Tbuwdav , the 4 th inst ., at the Wheatsheaf . The W . JI ., Bro . Henry Fleming , occupied the chair of I-JJ . S ., supported by Bros . A . Woouhousc , S . W . ; Thos . Robinson . P . M ., as J . W .,- D . Murray , Sec ; R . Poster , Treas . ; J . Murray , sen ., JR . Nixon , Tylers . Tiie lodge ivas opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting wore read and confirmed , after wliich a new code of by-laws were road and passed . Bi-o . Woodbouso proposed , and Bro . Robinson seconded , that the lodge be adjourned until tho first Thursday in October , in consequence of so few members attending during the summer months , except in case of emergency . No other business oirering itself the lodge ivas duly closed .

KENT . PROVINCIAL QUASI . LODG " E . The Provincial Grand Lodge of the province of Kent was held at Folkestone on the 11 th ult . The weather being brilliantly fine , there was a large attendance of brethren from Canterbury , Dover , Ashford , Maidstone , aud different parts of the

province . A sad disappointment was experienced , however , iu the ^ non-attendance of the M . W . Provincial Grand Master , Viscount Ilohnesdale—a telegram having been received by his Deputy regretting his inability to be present . The chair was therefore Lken by Bro . \ V . P . " Dobson , the R . W . D . G . Master-Nearly 200 brethren were present . The Provincial Grand Lodge being opened , ihe u ? ual routine business was transacted , and the following brethren were
