The usual monthly meeting of the Lodge of Benevolence ivas held at Freemasons' Hull , on Wednesday , 22 nd inst . There ivere present : Bros . J . M . Clabon , President , as AV . Hart , and other brethren Avere also present . The Lodge of Bonevolence having been opened at 6 o ' clock , under the IICAV- regulation , and the minutes of the previous meeting read , the AA ' . M . stated he had considered the question submitted to him , on a point of practice , and gave his opinion thereon .
Ten grants , made at the previous meeting , were confirmed , viz : — one of £ 100 : one of £ 40 ; and eight of £ 20 each ; iu all £ 300 . The President read a short statement setting forth the circumstances of each case , and put them for confirmation seriatim . Tho Avbole of the grants Avere confirmed . The new list comprised thirty-tAvo applications . The following grants Avere made , or , as occasion required , recommended to Grand Lodgo or the Grand Master .

M .: — "The members of the Domatic Lodge having heard with deep feelings of regret of the sudden and untimeldeath of our respected
y Bro . Simpson , P . Af ., desire to convey to bis widow their sincere condolence in her time of trial and tribulation , trusting that the Great Architect of the Universe will support her in her affliction . " Bro . Simpson , was , by his courtesy aud kindness , and not less , by his Masonic worth , very much respected by the brethren . A brother proposed that the lodge be removed . The feeling of the lodge on the subject may be learned by the fact that only tAA'O brethren voted for the motion ,
and seventy against it . It n-as resolved to hold the Summer Festival at Cliigivell on the third Thursday in July . The lodge ivas then closed , and the brethren adjourned to au excellent baiiquet .
