INSTALLATION MEETING OF THE GREAT CITY LODGE , No . 1426 .
The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Cannon Street Hotel on Saturday last , Bro . Robert Greening , AA ' . M . The business before the lodge comprised the raising of Bro . J . T . Hale : on the conclusion of which Bro . John . Secx , a former AV . M .. and one of the founders of the lodge , was again installed into the chair of K . S . for the ensuing year .
The installation was carried out in the usual effective manner for which this lodge is distinguished . The AV . M .. and Bro . AV . Babcr , P . M .. with the assistance of Bro . James Stevens , P . M . as D . C ., sharing the ceremonial work . The following officers were appointed and invested , viz . : —Bros . AVm . Cook , P . M ., S . AV . : C . T . Smith , J . AV . ; X . B . Headon . P . M ..

Propositions for initiation at the next meeting - were ; made , and certain routine matters of business being disposed of . the AV . M ..
prior to rising for the third time , "' called off . " and the brethren , under charge of the J . AV ., repaired to the Pillar Room , where an excellent banquet was served . The after proceedings Avere shared in with much satisfaction by the visitors , amongst whom were Masons of high provincial rank and standing , who expressed their gratification in dining , for the first time in their Masonic career , in
' open Lodge . Some very excellent speeches were made m the course of the evening , which , wo regret , lack of space prevents us from reporting . It is sufficient to say that , shortly after ten o ' clock , the J . AA ' . called brethren to " labour , " and , after the third demand had been put from the chair , the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony and
with solemn prayer . Shortly afterwards , the brethren separate ! , delighted with the Masonic treat which they had enjoyed . The musical arrangements were under the direction of Bro . Geo , Jenkins , jun ., Org . 2018 . The following is a complete , list of the brethren present on the

The S . AV .. Bro . AVm . AVatson , P . M ., was elected AV . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . Robert Abbott was unanimously re-elected for the third time as Treasurer . A candidate for initiation having been proposed , the AV . M ., Bro . Tudor Trevor , delivered a brief valedictory address , in which ho sketched the proceedings of the past year and dwelt upon the goodwill and harmony which had so
happily marked his year of office . The brethren subsequently adjourned to the supper-room where , under the influence of " the cup which cheers and not inebriates , " and the kindly spirit which has marked their intercourse , a very enjoyable evening was spent , the toast , "Success to Lodge Prudence , " proposed by the AV . officers for the ensuing year , after which the choice of a representative from the Lodge to the Charity Committee fell to the lot of the AV . M . The Lodge having been closed , the brethren adjourned to a banquet at the Crown Hotel , served in Mr . AVillis ' s usual first-class stvle . An enjoyable evening followed .
