As I have before mentioned this evening , I am not only much gratified in being here to-day , to do honour to my friend , but I am also gratified in the opportunity of becoming acquainted witb the Brethren of North Wales and Shropshire . Though I hare Freemasonry deeply at heart , though I have been recently appointed to the high and distinguished office of G . M . of AVilts , I am , I fear , very rusty , as Bro . Marriott would soon find out were he to take the trouble to examine me . The
greatest and best of men haA'e belonged to our Order . If Ave turn to the army , Ave find the best of its officers , from Julius Ca ? sar to the gallant Napier ( Avho has been so recently gathered to his fathers ) , members of the Craft . If Ave turn to the Church , we find she had given members to it—St . Alban's—who formed the first Grand Lodge in Britain .
