THE election meeting of this Lodge was held at tho Gnildhal Tavern , London , on Saturday , 17 th April , and was exceedingly well attended . The W . M . Bro . to attend . Tho ceremony was most ably performed by tho W . M . and Officers , with full musical service . The election cf Vf . M . for tbe ensuing year was unanimously in favour of Bro . F . H . Cozens the J . W ., tho S . W . Bro . Collins having , in consequence of ill health and numerous engagements , requested the bi-ethren to pass him over for the present . Tho Wor . Thomas Meggy was also unanimously elected

Treasurer . In consequence of the decease of Bro . Grant , who had faithfully tyled tho Lodgo from the date of its formation , a voto of condolence with tho widow was passed , and subsequently practical evidence of the respect entertained for onr late brother was given by tho contributions , after supper , on her behalf . Bro . Bernhardt was elected Tyler for the ensuing year . Tho P . M . jewel of the Lodgo was voted to the outgoing Master . Bro . T . A . De Leliva was recommended

for Prov . Grand honours . The date of meeting was changed from Fridays to the third Saturday in tho months of June , October , Feb . rnary and April in each year . Propositions wero taken for advancees , and bnsiness being ended , tho brethren adjourned to an early supper , and spent , as is usual with them on all occasions , a most harmonious and agreeable evening . The installation of Bro . Cozens will take place on Saturday , 19 th June , at three in the afternoon , afc Guildhall Tavern .

The 102 tid annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Virginia was held on the 8 th , 9 th , ancl 10 th December last , under tho presidency of Grand Master Willford . There are in this jurisdiction 224 Lodges , with an aggregate membership of 9 , 777 , or about the same as the previous

year . Past Grand Master James Evans , who has attained the venerable age of fourscore years , has resigned the office of Grand Lecturer , which he had held for very many years with honour to himself , and to the great benefit of the Fraternity .

In the proceedings of the last annnal Communication of the Grand Lodge of Utah is noted tho case of a brother being expelled the Society , on the ground that he was a member of the Mormons , and advocated the principle and

practice of polygamy . It was not proved that he was himself a polygamist , but that , being a member of a church which affirms the rightfulness of such a practice , he had openl y defended tbe position of Mormonism in thafc respect .

The twenty-first Triennial Conclave of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar will be held in Chigago , in the month of Angnsfc , when it is expected that quite •-0 , 000 Sir Kni ghts will take parfc in the parade on the first day of the gathering .

The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts held its Quarterly Communication in the Temple , Boston , on the 10 th March A Report on Grancl Lodge expenses showed that matters

, 1 PUBLIC meeting of tho inhabitants of Truro was hold at tho - " -V Public Rooms , Truro , on Monday , 26 th ult ., under tho presidency of tho Mayor ( Mr . P . P . Smith ) , for tho pnrposo of considering tha best means to bo adopted for giving a fitting reception to the Princo and Princess of Wales on tho occasion of tho laying of tho foundation stones of tho new Cathedral cm tho 20 ch May next . Tho Mayor remarked that it was with very groat pleasure that he

met them thero that day . On the last occasion that he addressed them npon the subject of a Royal visit—in 1875—they hacl a very great disappointment , but it was borne with loyalty and magnanimity , and they wore now to reap a rich reward . Not only had the Princo of Wales consented to como down npon tho groat occasion of laying the foundation-stones of tho new Cathedral—tho first that

would be built since the Reformation—but the Princess would accompany him . They would remember that on tho last occasion tho Earl of Mount Edgcmabe camo to their aid , as tbe representative of tho Princo of AVales . Every ono would remember how well ho acted his parfc on thafc occasion , and tho county afc largo was indebted to that nobleman for tho manner in which ho hacl carried onfc tho

arrangements for tho coming Royal visit . The arrangements would necessarily bo of a more expensive and extended character than thoy would bo if tho Princo woro coming by himself to presiclo over an agricultural meeting . As far as ho was in a position , ho would tell them what would be tho programme for tho day . They must , however , accept it with this qualification , that it had to be submitted to

the Prince himself , and tho Earl of Mounfc Fdgcumbe was in Loudon about ifc now . The programme was snbject to alteration , but ho believed that substantially what ho would read to them was likely to bo carried out . Dr . Barham moved tho following resolution— " Thafc it is expedient that a fitting reception be given to their Royal Highnesses tho Prince and Princess of Wales on tho occasion of thoir visit

to the city , and that a Committee be formed to co-operate with the County Committee ancl with the Town Council Committee to carry out tho arrangements and canvas for subscriptions . " Mr . A . 0 . Williams , in seconding the resolution , thanked the Mayor for having called them together and explaining to them , as far as he was able , the programme that would be carried out on the 20 th May . He

thought they ought to pull together , and do fchoir best to give their Royal Highnesses a fitting reception on the occasion of their visit . The resolution was carried unanimously . The Chairman thought it would be desirable that tho meeting should appoint a Committee to assist the County and Town Council Committees . Mr . F . Hearlo Cock thon read tho list of subscriptions , which amounted to £ 596 .

The Committee had sent out nearly a thousand circulars , and onfc of that nnmber only fifteen or twenty had hacl time to reply . Thoy would require no loss than £ 1 , 500 for the expenses of the day . Tho following gentlemen wero appointed a Committee , with power to add to their number , to assist the County and Town Council Committees : — Major Parkyn , R . II . Carter , 11 . Marrack , S . Trovail , J . G . Chilcott

H . Rice , W . J . Griddle , and C . H . Williams . Br . Barham asked tho Mayor whether an opportunity would bo given for presenting addresses from the Royal Cornwall Infirmary aud Royal Institution of Cornwall , to which His Boyal Highness contributed . Tho Mayor replied that ho waa nnablo to answer tbe question because provision had only boon made for addressss from tho county and city . Thoso addresses would

simply be handed to His Royal Highness , and not read , aud tho same courso would bo adopted in regard to other addresses , if presented . He wonld wifch pleasure communicate with the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe on the subject . Canon Harvey proposed a voto of thauks to the Mayor , which was seconded by Mr . Messrs . A . and S . Gatti are to be congratulated ou the way in which thoy havo placed the Shaugroun on the stage , and the cast the v have been fortunate enough to secure . Tho appreciation evinced by ihe audoince on Saturday last clearly proved that Mr . Boncicanlt ' s drama has not suffered in their hands . Although tho Shaii £ , 'raun is not ono of tho best of that author ' s productions , wo may fairly say

that ifc is a play really worth a visit . The author sustains his original character " Conn " in a very praiseworthy manner , aud Mr . It . Noville as the Captain maintains his reputation as a careful actor ; while Blessrs . J . Fernandez and E . Brooke , and Mesdamcs Foote and Pateraan , are to bo congratulated on the way they play their

respective ports . The remaining characters are well sustained by the other members of the company . We think ifc is a matter for consideration whether tho representation of tho Irish wake as hero delineated is a suitable matter to place on the stago ; however , those who witness it will best be able to form for themselves au opiuion ou such a snbject .
