During dinner , and the intervals between the speeches , tho Theatre Royal Band ( which had been generously lent for the occasion by Captain Roebuck , ) favoured those present with somo choice selections of music , exquisitely rendered , and added much to the pleasures of the evening . The arrangements throughout were perfect , and

reflected great credit on all who were instrumental in carrying them out . The jewel presented to Bro . Mackay is a handsome gold and inlaid Past Master ' s , and bears the following inscription : — " Presented to Bro . J . W . C . Mackay P . M . by the members of Good Hope Lodge , No . 863 , Port Elizabeth , South Africa , as a token of esteem , on his retirement from the office of Worshipful Master , 1879-80 . "
