" OUR BOYS " AT WOOD GREEN .
ONE of tho finest days that havo been vouchsafed tons during this veritable " dripping month of Jane " smiled npon the pupils who arc fortunately cared for by the Eoyal Masonic Institution for Boys , at Wood Green , on Tuesday , the day set apart for the annual visit of the Stewards , and the distribution of prizes that had been gained in tho various branches of stud y during the year . The sun
shone gloriously the whole day through , from what Tennyson would call a " blue unclouded sky , " whilst a gentle breeze was astir , modulating the otherwise sultry atmosphere into a refreshing temperature . As the trains arrived , groups of visitors fallowed each other in rapid succession towards the Institution , until the gymnasium was crowded
by a fashionably-attired company , amongst whom the ladies preponderated , and evinced the liveliest interest in the proceedings . Iu one corner of tho ball a stage had been erected , with proscenium , wings , and all the necessary accessories of a histrionic performance , and the manner in which tho lads acquitted themselves reflected the
utmost credit upon their preceptor * , whilst at tho same time bringing thoir latent elocutionary powers into full and effective p lay . Near this was a gallery in which tho pupils sat , in tier 3 , and their smart robust appearance gave the best possible proof that their physical , as woll as their mental , faculties are most judiciously studied . Bro .
Raynham Stewart , as Chairman of the House Committee , occup ied tho chair , nnd was supported on tho platform by a large nnmber of tho executive , together with many of the promineub supporters of tho Institution . Bro . Frederick Binckes , the indefatigable Secretary ,
to whom so much of the success of the School is duo , succeeded with nb ' quitous tact in making all the arrangements go along smoothly , ¦ . vhiist his urbane manner elicited the remark , by no means in apropos to the occasion , that although ho strove with the utmost triump h to please everybody , ho was " as much a boy aa any of them .
