Reports Of Meetings.

After various business Bros . H . A . Tyler and E . H . Heaton were raised , the ceremony being performed in a most impressive manner by Bro . W . T . Harvey P . M . After the Lodge was closed , the members ( of whom there were

about thirty present ) and also several visitors were entertained by Bro . W . H . Reed P . M ., of Ealing , who gave a most interesting descriptive lecture , illustrated by limelight views , of his travels through Palestine on a Masonic tour , and also of his presence at a Masonic Lodge , on the site of King Solomon's Temple .

At the conclusion Bro . Reed was complimented by way of a vote of thanks proposed by Bro . Jas . Taplin , which , was seconded and carried amidst much applause , and thus terminated another one of the pleasant evenings which are now becoming quite frequent at the Lodge of Instruction which is held every Thursday evening , at S . 30 . * * - *

Bro . William Shurmur P . G . Std . B ., after whom the Lodge is named , proposed that the sum of one hundred guineas be voted from the funds to head the list of Bro . Walter Fortescue P . constituted ten years ago , is already a Patron of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , with 600 votes , a Vice-Patron of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , with eightv votes ; and a Vice President of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , with twenty votes . Surely this is a record for so short a period , and the Lodge may be congratulated upon having fulfilled in so worthy a manner the

duty imposed upon it . Another proof of the Brethren's generosity was forthcoming when the appeal from the widow of a deceased member was brought under their notice . A sum of ten guineas was voted from the Benevolent Fund for her immediate relief , and this was afterwards supplemented by £ 4 collected at the dinner table .

Upon the conclusion of the business , the Lodge was closed in due form , and the Brethren subsequently dined together .
