VIRTUE AND SILENCE LODGE , No . 332 . ON Wednesday , 14 th ult ., the annual installation meeting was held in the Lodge room at the White Lion Hotel , Hadleigh , when Bro . E . R . Gayford was installed Master for the ensuing year , the ceremony being perfoimed by Bro . J . C . Norman P . M . There was a large attendance of brethren and visitors . The brethren

subsequently dined together , the banquet being provided by the ho & t , Bro . R . Aldous . During the evening the broken column was passed round and a substantial sum handed over to the Masonic Charities . o o o

There was a large gathering of members in addition to many distinguished visitors , amongst whom were the Right Hon . the Earl of Jersey Provincial Grand Master , Viscount Valentia D . P . G . M ., and Rev . H . Adair Pickard P . G . Chaplain .

The ceremony of installation having been performed by Lord Valentia , and the ordinary business of the Lodge having been transacted , the brethren adjourned to the White Lion Hotel where an excellent banquet had been prepared . The arrangements throughout were exceedingly satisfactory . o o o

Wickham , which was most impressively carried out by the retiring W . M . In recognition of his valuable services to the Lodge during his Mastership a P . M . ' s gold jewel was presented to Bro . J . C . Buckwell . After the business of the Lodge , the brethren sat down to a banquet , when tho usual Masonic toasts were honoured .

Bro . 0 . Hudson responded to the sentiment of the Provincial Grand Officers , and referred to the arrangements made for the convenience of brethren to attend Grand Lodge on the 7 th prox . for the election of Grand Treasurer . He had abundance of support promised from the Provinces of Sussex , Kent , Hampshire , Surrey , Dorset , Isle of Wight , and London .

Bros . Riviere ( W . M . Clarence , 271 ) , and A . F . Lamette ( W . M . Stanford , 1947 ) , responded for the Visitors . Both are Frenchmen , and Bro . Lamette spoke of the universality of Masonry and of the bond of brotherhood existing between nations through its influence . o o o

ST . LAWRENCE LODGE , No . 2078 . . ON Friday , the 23 rd ult ., the members celebrated the annual festival at the Masonic Rooms , Scunthorpe , when Bro . John McCullum was installed Worshipful Master , the ceremony beinj * performed by the retiring W . M ., Bro . S . M . Peace . After the

installation the Brethren adjourned to tho Blue Bell Hotel , where the annual banquet was held . During the evening the retiring Master was presented by the members of the Lodge with a handsome Past Master's jewel in recognition of his services .

o o o CLARENCE LODGE , No . 2462 . THERE was a large attendance at the annual festival which was held at West Hartlepool , on Thursday , the 22 nd ult . The installation of Bro . John Suggitt S . W ., together with the

investiture of Officers , took place . Bro . F . H . Bennett P . M . P . P . G . J . D . performed the installation ceremony . The installation banquet was afterwards held , and thc usual Masonic toasts were given .
