Montagu , there being present Comps . J . Jacob P . P . G . H . and P . G . Treasurer , R . M . Howard P . P . G . H ., G . R . Crickmay P . P . G . J ., Rev . W . M . Heath P . P . G . J ., W . Chick P . G . S . E ,, C . F . Anion P . P . G . S . N .,

T . A . Hanne P . P . G . Registrar , J . A . Shorren P . G . S . B ., J . McWilliam P . G . A . S ., and a good many other Companions , each Chapter in the Province being represented . Tho minutes of tho last Provincial Grand Chapter , which was hold at Poole last year , to celebrate the Centenary of the Poole Chapter , aud which were rather voluminous , were read ancl confirmed . The Grand Superintendent

addressed the Companions on the state of tho Province and Royal Arch Freemasonry generally . The report of tho P . G . S . E . was read and adopted , and tho accounts of the Past Grand Treasurer wero received and passed , and votes of thanks wore accorded to Comps . W . Chick and Jacob for their services as S . E . and Treasurer respectively . Companion Jacob was re-elected

treasnrer , and thanked the Comps . for tho confidence placed in him for many years ; ho would again accept tho office . Tho Officers appointed for the next year wero invested as follows : —Comps . After confirmation of tho minutes , and tho exaltation of several candidates , the installation of the three Principals for tho coming year—Comps .

F . W . Ansell , James Jenkin , and F . Ryman Hall—was ably carried out by Past M . E . Zerubbabel . Companion Brnton Director " of Ceremonies , with the assistance of a Board of Installed Principals , including Companions Rev . H . Adair Pickard and E . P . Morrell . M . E . Companion Ansell continued Comps . J . J . Hughes and J . Tomkins in their respective chairs , and appointed and invested his other Officers

as follows : —Thomas Eley P . S ., H . G . W . Drinkwater ancl A . E . Lamborn A . S ., W . R . Bowden Organist , W . Park and E . Townsend Stewards , G . Norwood J . Ifc was announced in Chapter that a Provincial Royal Arch Chapter was to bo formed for Oxfordshire , aud that His Royal Highness the Duko of Albany , who had accepted the Superintendence of the District , would appoint an early day for his installation in Oxford .

The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Leicestershire ancl Rutland will be holden afc St . George ' s Hall , Hinckley , on Thursday next , the 8 th inst ., by . command of the Right Worshipful the Prov . Grand Master Earl Ferrers . The W . M . and Officers of the Knights of

Malta Lodge , No . 50 , will open their Lodge afc 3 o ' clock , and the business thereof , including the Installation of fche Worshipful Master for the ensuing year will be proceeded with , after which , at 4 o ' clock , the Provincial Grand Lodge will be opened , and fche usual business of the year

transacted . A banquet will be served afc the George Hotel , afc 5 o ' clock , tickets for which including dessert are fixed at six and sixpence each . To the agenda paper are attached abstracts of the several accounts for the pasfc year , from which we learn that there is a balance of £ 99 Is 3 d to tbe

credit of the Province on its General Fund , and of £ 35 8 s 9 d on its Charity Fund , together £ 134 10 s Od . There are ten Lodges on the roll of fche Province , shewing a total memberof 379 brethren , of whom 44 subscribe to more than ono

Lodge , so that the actual number of subscri ptions coming into Prov . Grand Lodge is 423 . We hope to have the pleasure of fully reporting the doings of fche brethren on Tuesday next in a future issue , and beg to offer our heartiest wishes for the success of fcho gathering-.

The Lord Mayor presided on Friday last ; < i ( the Annual Festival of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement . Previously the Lodge assembled to witness tho working of the livf sections of the second lecture , in which Bros . J . W . Jones , T . Truman , Tanqueray , J . H . Davidson , C . Lowthcr Kemp

and S . W . Shaw took part , Bro . T . Fenn P . G . D . acting ns W . M . More than 250 members nnd \ isitors were present . At the conclusion Lord Mayor Ellis-proposed a voto of

thanks fco the working brethren , and congratulated flu W . M . on having such apt pupils in acquiring a knowlcdgi of the long and difficult ritual of the Order . Everything passed off excellently well .

Several well-known artists tendered our worthy brother , who is professionally known as Sidney Franks , valuable assistance . Tho hall was' crowded in every part . In response ! ton hearty call , liro . Silvester came forward ; he thanked his numerous friends who had so liberallv supported him . liro . Ru" : < ell Grover came forward

and snid ho h . id gre . it plcnsiiro in presenting to Rro . Silvester a testimonial of friendshi p from tlie new proprietor , liro . Purkiss . lie hoped Bro . Silvester would speedily recover from his accident , and resume his duties in tho profession which ho so eminently adorns .
