Brown , Christian , Field , Clarke , Moffatt . Tho Lodgo was opened in due form , and the minutes confirmed . The
ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Claridge acting as candidate . The chair was then taken by Bro . Christian , and the Lodge having been openeed in tho 3 rd degree , the ceremony of raising was rehearsed Bio . Hallows candidate . The Lodge was resumed to the 1 st degree , and Bro . Pinder worked the 1 st section of the lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bro . Moffatt , of Beaconsfield Lodge 16 G 2 , was elected a member , and Bro . Bell W . M . for tho ensuing week . Lodge was then clesed .

Humphreys 1509 , Bisset 405 , A . D . Renshaw 191 , S . E . Moss 185 . In proposing a vote of thanks to the W . M . for working the Fifteen Sections , Bro . Hames paid a high compliment to him , for the very excellent manner he had conducted tho business of the evening , aud the proposition was carried nem . con . The W . M . duly responded , and proposed that a vote of thanks bo accorded to those brethren who had so ably assisted him in working tho sections . This was also carried nnanimously . Doric Lodge , No . 81 . —This Lodge held its monthly meeting on Wednesday , the 2 nd inst ., at the Private Rooms , Doric-place , Woodbridge , Suffolk . Present—Bros . Alfred Barnes W . M ., E . C . Moor S . W ., B . Gall J . W . pro . tern ., W . Wilmshurst Sec , B . D . Gall Treas ., F . Bradbrook S . D ., G . E . Keer J . D , E . Fitz-Gcrald P . M . D . C , J . BullI . G ., G . Roe , having answered the nsual questions , was entrusted and regularly passed to the 2 nd degree by the W . M ., when tho Deputy P . G . M . explained the tracing board in an effective manner . A reply was read from the Grand Secretary , to tho application made by this Lodge , for permission to
adopt a centenary jewel , by which it appeared the Lodge is not yet qualified to claim it . Although the warrant is of an old date , it formerly belonged to the Lodge held at Aldborongh , and after lying dormant for a time "was transferred hero , therefore the hundred years have not yet expired , about twenty bcung now wanted to completc the period . A letter was read front a Freemason's Widow in
the neighbourhood , applying for relief ; but her late husband who had been a member of a Lodge in Kent , having neglected to join a Lodge here , although ho resided in this district for several years , her application was not entertained . The Lodge having been formally closed , several of the brethren adjourned to Bro . J . Grout ' s , Bull Hotel , to supper , where a few hours were spent most agreeably in the usual Masonic style .
Union Lodge , NO . 129 , Kendal . —The regular monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , on 2 fith April , The W . M ., Bro . R . J . Nelson , was supported by Bros . McKay S . W ., R . Godfrey W . M . 1074 as J . W ., T . Wilson P . M ., Banks Sec , John Bowes P . M . P . J . G . W ., and a goodly number of brethren . The Lodge having been opened , and the minutes read and confirmed , the W . M .
announced that , as there was an initiation , passing , and raising , he should esteem it a favour if Bro . Bowes , the Junior Grand Warden of the Province , would work the third degree . Bro . Bowes then took the chair of K . S ., and raised Bro . Rodick . The other labours having been completed by the W . M ., iu a highly satisfactory manner , the Lodge was closed with the usu ;! i-vlemnities .

G ., on Wednesday , the 2 nd inst ., the attraction being the working of the Fifteen Sections . Bro . T . Tnrqunriil P . M . 155 G acted as W . M ., Batiies T . M . 551 and 933 as S . W ., Walker , in place of Bro . Coustab ' e , who was unavoidably late , as J . W ., and E . Gottliicl P . M . and
Preceptor as I . P . M . The 1 st Lectnre was worked by Bros . Jessie , Fenner , Croaker , Andrews , L . Turquand , Webb , aud Ruddrrforth ; tho 2 nd by Bros . Posener , Constable , Walker , Barnes , and Defrios ; and the 3 rd by Bros . Locwcustaik jun ., Hewlett , and 1 ' eirin . On the business being ended , Bro . Gottheil proposed that a vote of thanks and honorary membership be conferred upon Bro . Turquand , for
tho very efficient manner in which ho had conducted tbo work . All must have been gratified with what they had witnessed . There are many capable cf performing the work , but few who had the power of comprehending its drift and meaning . Bro . Turquand , it must be admitted , has put the questions with considerable intelligence , and , seeing that this was his first attempt , in a highly creditable manner ,

they could not , therefore , do less than pay him tho proposed eompliment . Bro . Burnes seconded the motion , he quite coiucided with Bro . Gottheil's remark as to tho intelligent way in which the duties weie performed , tho W . M . showing clearly by the way the questions were put , that he grasped thoir significance , but ho disagreed with the idea that they could not do less than pass the proposed vote . Tho
Lodgo unfortunately had not the power to do more , yet , again , taking another view of it , it is a gratifying honour to bo made an honorary member of a Lodge of Instruction , for it is not bestowed , like somo other honours in Masonry , as a matter of course , bnt as a token of appreciation for real services rendered . Bro . Turqnaud siucerely thanked tho brethren for the kind words spoken ; though an old man ,
yet he was comparatively young in Masonry . He remembered when he was just 3 fia days and twelve hours old , Masonically speaking , tie was introduced to an " Emulation " man to receive instruction . Shortly after that he was exalted into Royal Arch Masonry by Bro . Preceptor Gottheil , who on that occasion , mentioned to him the Confidenco Lodge of Instruction , at which he has ever since been , if not
tho most , at all events , one of the most regular attendants . Since then he had done his best to get rid of the many nobs and excresences of the Emulation working . He hoped he had succeeded , to some extent , but would not rest until he had knocked off all with which , in his opiuion , that particular mode of workiug is encumbered . Bro .
Barnes interposed , aud said that he did not care how many of their excresences the W . M . might knock off , but hoped that mercy might bo shown to our nobs . Bro . Jessie was elected to preside on next Wednesday . Bro . Turquaud desires to express , through our columns , his regret for not thankinyr , at the conclusion of the proceedings , those brethron who assisted him in the working of the sections .
Percy Lodge of Instruction , No . 198 . —Held at the Jolly Farmers , Sontbgate-road . Tho Fifteen Sections were worked on Saturday , the 28 th of April . Bro . Hewlett occupied the chair , supported by Bros . Musto P . M . as I . P . M ., Austin P . M . as S . VV ., and Pearcy as J . W . Bro . J . A . Powell acted very efficiently as I . G . Tho first lecturo was worked bv Bros . Musto , Former ,
Powell , Isaac , Killick , Webb , and Rudderforth ; the second by Bros . Brasted , Moss , Job , Turquand , and Baxter ; and the third by Bros . Stock , Pearcy and Trewinnard . There was a very large meeting even for the Percy Lodge ( which is generally well attended ) , the well-known abilities of the W . M . having attracted a large number of visitors as well as members , including several P . M . ' s . The W . M .

Green J ., Townsend S . N ., Barham P . S ., Green 1 st . Assist ., Turner 2 nd Assist . ; and Comps . James , Kerile , Stean , S . L . Green , Walker , Whitmarsh , Holliday , & c .
