Metropolitan Chapter of Improvement . —The weekly convocation of this Chapter was held on Tuesday last , at the Jamaica Coffee House , Coruhill , E . C . Pro > ent ~ Comps . Noehmor M . E . Z .. J . Constable H ., Drew J ., T . W . White Scribe E , Messenger Scribe N , Rnmsey P . S . ; also Comps . F . Brown and Sheffield . Tho ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Brown acting as candidate . It is announced that thi 3 Chapter will close for tho season after Tuesday , the 29 th inst .

Metropolitan Lodge , No . 1507 . —An omergency meeting of this Lodge was held ou Thursday , 3 rd inst ., at tho Metropolitan Club , 269 Pentonville-road . Bros . J . Williams W . M ., R . J . Kingham S . W ., J . Willing jun . P . M . Treas ., W . M . Stiles Sec , C J . Scales as S . D ., W . Side J . D ., H . Stiles I . G ., C Coll D . C , J . J . Michael I . P . M . Tho Lodgo was opened , and Bros . J . I . Bosshart , F . H . Trotrnan , and

J . Bruton were raised to tho 3 rd degreo . Bros . D . Hatch , A . Ponchot , T . 0 . Edmonds , and W . Wiltshire wero passed to the 2 nd degreo . Ballots were taken for tho admission of Messrs . J . Fortoscue , W . Parfitt , C . Denham , P . G . Tombs , and thoy were duly initiated into the Order . Bro . J . G . Mc Ewen , No . 317 was elected a joining member . Bro . Jas . Willing jun . P . M . stated that their noxt meeting

would be held at Anderton ' s Hotel . As a testimonial is about to be presented to Bro . W . Smith , he proposed that the sum of 21 s should be given from tho funds of tho Lodge , and this was carried nnanimously . The Lodge was closed until October . The brethren then sat down to a very excellent banquet and dessert , provided by R . Cox . Grace having been said , the W . M . proposed the usual Loyal

and Masonic toasts . In giving that of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , he remarked how proud they felt at the M . W . G . M . having appointed two Princes of the Royal Family as Grand Wardens . The toast of the R . W . the Earl of Carnarvon Pro G . M ., tho R . W . the Earl of Skelmersdale , and the rest of tho Grand Officers was given , after which Bro . Jas . Willing P . M . roso , he had a pleasing duty to perform ,

viz ., to propose the toast of tho W . M ., it was a difficult task to speak of his many good qualities , and his excellent working . All will be sorry to lose him when he goes out of office , for during his year of the occupation of the chair he had done his duty in every respect . The W . M . in repl ying , thanked Bro . Willing jun . for the kind remarks made by him , and he hoped ho deserved them ; ho had

done his share of initiations but they wore not equal in numbers to those of the 1 st W . M . This evening was a Lodge of emergency , and he hoped to have another one before he vacated the chair . He then gave the Initiates , he regretted that one of them had been obliged to leave . The toast having been responded to , the W . M . proposed the Past Masters . They were but two in number . Bro . James Willing in a

very humorous speech returned thanks , —he regretted tbo absence of Bro . Michael tho I . P . M ., who is supposed to assist tho W . M ., but the W . M . required no assistance . The Lodge had been in existence only three years , he was not only astonished , but pleased at the success of tho Lodge ; they were now in a position to ask Grand Chapter , to grant a Warrant to hold a Chapter in connection with the Lodge .

Tho W . M . then proposed the toast of tho W . M . oloct , whose abilities are well known , he was pleased to have so abl « a successor . Bro Kingham in reply said he thanked tho W . M . for all his kind remarks , he would endeavour to emulate the Past Masters , who aro shining lig hts in Masonry . The Visitors toast was next proposed , they were always welcome . Bro . Dyer Harris , and Fortescno responded to the

toast . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Treasuror and Sec , he was proud to say this young Lodge is a Vice-President of the R . M . B . Institution , which was due to the exortions of Bro . Willing and Michael , the two Past Masters , —it was gratif ying to the Lodgo , and he hoped at a future time they would bo Vice-Presidents of the other two charities . Tho toast was responded to by Bro . Stiles , who

said that while acting as Secretary , he would only be acting for their comfort and looking after their interests . Tho toast of the Press was then proposed in connection with the FREEMASON ' CHRONICLE . Bro . H . M . Levy returned thanks , and the Tyler ' s

City of Weatminater'Lodge , No . 1563 . —A meeting of this Lodge was held on Thursday , 26 th April , at the Masonic Hall , Airstreet , Regent-streot . Bro . Rev . P . M . Hodden W . M ., White S . W ., Phillip J . W ., Scott P . M . Sec , C . A . Cottebrune P . G . P . Treas ., Turner S . D ., Docker as J . D ., Hutchinson D . C , Shand I . G ., Bishop Organist , Potter Tyler ; Bro . B . Swallow I . P . M . ; and Bros . Docker , Waugh ,

Swaagman , Emannel , H . E . Bonham , & c . The Lodge was opened , and the minutes were confirmed . Ballots were taken for the admission of Messrs . Ward jnn ., Eastgato jun ., Lee , Jones aud Wilkins , which being unanimously in their favour , the four former gentlemen were duly initiated into tho Order . Bros . Stilwell , Kohler and Misselbrook , were passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . The

working of the ceremonies was perfectly and impressively rendered by the W . M . A collection was made , and liberally subscribed to by the brethren , for the W . M . ' s list , who is a Steward for the Festival of the Girls' School . The Lodge was then closed nntil September . The brethren sat down to a banquet provided by Bro . Nicol . The W . M . in his usual genial manner presided , and proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . Bro . B . Swallow I . P . M . gave

the health of the W . M . The toast of the I . P . M . was given , and that of the Visitors followed . Bro . Bourne P . M . Ebtiry Lodge , aud Bro . Crook responding . The toasts of the Wardens , Treasurer and Sec . were given , also that of the Officers , who severally returned thanks . The Tyler ' s toast concluded the evening . Bros .
