and M . Eilenberg wero then raised to the 3 rd degree . Mr . John Elkan was initiated into Freemasonry in a very impressive manner by thoW . M ., nftcrwhich tho AV . M . passed Bros . 11 . Jewell and Albert Cohen . Propositions for initiation and joining were then made . Tho Secretary submitted tho bye-laws of tho Lodgo for confirmation , and after the brethren had thoroughl y discussed them , they were
unanimously confirmed , they having been formally adopted at a previous mooting . Letters of apology wero received from two of the officers , who were unavoidably absent . There being no farther business , tho Lodge was adjourned till 6 th November , and tho brethren proceeded to banquet . The usual Loyal aud Masonic toasts wero given and heartily received . Tho Initiates' health was given and
ably responded to . Altogether , the brethren spent a very pleasant evening , chiefly owing to the music that was provided ; tho W . Messrs . AV . Taylor , E . AV . Livermorc , J . AV . Dunton , and G . C . Michels wero balloted for and unanimously accepted . These gentlemen were then initiated into the Order by the AV . M ., the ceremony being perfectl y and impressively rendered . Bros . A . Magillivray 1559 , H . Henton 1559 , and J . AVako 749 , were elected joining members . After the toasts of tho R . AV . Pro G . M ., D . G . M ., and tho rest of the Grand Officers , Bro . AV . C . Parsons Sec . and acting I . P . M . rose : ho had a pleasing duty to perform , to propose a toast in the absence of their Treasurer , Bro . Swallow ; tho health of the AV . M ., whom they all respect . Ho does all in his power to promote tho interests of tho Lodgo , and ho deserved their thanks for the able manner ho had
conducted their various ceremonies . Bro . Beck returned thanks . Ho regretted the absence , on account of illness in his family , of Bro . Swallow . It had always boon his ambition to become AV . M . Tho Lodge had made a good selection of officers , and he was sure that under their conduct affairs would flourish . Ho would over keep its interests at heart ; ho again thanked them for their kind expressions .

M . then proposed tho toast of the Initiates ; there were seven present , some having been initiated at tho former meetings .
