"WILLIAM SHUIIY . of Myland , Colchester , who is now iu his 75 th year . Bro . SHUHY was formerly engaged in the Circulation Department of the Post Office , but , owing to severe attacks of neuralgia in the h ad , and defective vision , consequent upon cataract , ho was compelled to resign his position when at the age of 51 years . His only permanent income since that time lias been a pension of JEW a year , to which he was entitled on account of his service , and ho has had to encroach continually upon his savings , till thoy are now ( mite exhausts I . Consequently he cannot possibly provide for the boy ' s education , as he did for his children by his first marriage , and it will be a great comfort to him in his now declining days to see tho lad elected into the Institution . When , in the full possession of health , Bro . SHLMIV was a most , active Mason . He was initiated in the Saint John ' s Lodge , Hampstead , No . 1 S ) U ( now 107 ) in 18-18 , and , alter passing through the intermediate offices , eventually became W . M . When , in 1861 , the state of his health compelled him to remove from the District , he tendered his resignation , and the brethren at once elected him an honorary member , in recognition of his valuable services to his mother Lodge . Bro . SUUIIY shortly afterwards joined the Wellington Lodge , No . 318 , as a country member ; and became a member of the Angel Lodge , Colchester , No . 61 , in 1868 ; and he is still a subscribing member to both those Lodges . He was exalted in the Domatic Chapter , No . 177 , iu 18 o 2 , aud was elected to the Third Chair , but the continued unsatisfactory state of his health compelled him to resign . Ho was also one of the founders of the Mou-. t Lebanon Chapter , No . 73 . When tho present applicant was a child in arms , liro . SKUKY ' position enabled him to make himself , wife , and child , Lite Subscribers of the Boy ' s Institution , not thinkimi at tho time that ho should over bo compelled to avail himself of it-i benefits , and ho has , besides this , done all iu his power to excite in others an interest in the Masonic Charities .
