We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic mieetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired iyrYll endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or . other proceedings .
GRAFT : METROPOLITAN
ZETLAND LODGE , No . 511 . THE annual installation of this Lodge of good fellowship took place on Wednesday , at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet Street , under the presidency of Bro . William S . Thwaites Worshipful Master , who terminated his year of office with a brilliant display as a worker in the Craft . He was most ably supported by Bros . J . Moore S . W . W . M .-elect , Lamble J . W ., J . W . Barker P . M . Treasurer , George Read P . Grand Standard Bearer Sec , J . R . Hamell P . M . D . C ., T . Pringle S . D ., E . Pope J . D ., B . R . Thomas I . G ., F . 3 . Oliver Organist , J . Lee Tyler .
The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was advanced to the third degree , and then resumed to fcho firsfc .
The ballot was taken for Mr . Frederick George Parker and Mr . Edward Richard Rowley , and proved unanimous in their favour , and they being in attendance were duly initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , which ceremony , including the ancient charge , was delivered in a most impressive manner . Lodge was advanced to the second degree and Pasfc Master Hamell had the pleasure of presenting Bro . 3 . Moore as Worshipful Master-elect . He
signified his assent to the ancient charges and regulations , a Board of Installed Masters was formed , and Bro . J . Moore was regularly installed Master for the ensuing year . Tha new W . M . having been duly proclaimed invested his Officers in a very perfect manner , the following being appointed : Bros . T . R . Lamble S . W ., T . Pringle J . W ., J . W . Barker P . M . Treasurer , George Read P . M . P . G . S . B . Secretary , J . R . Hamell P . M . D . C , E . L . Pope S . D ., B . R . Thomas J . D ., B . Parker I . G ., H . Roe and C . 3 . Reimann Stewards , F . 3 . Oliver P . P . Gr . Org . Middlesex Organist , and J . Lee Tyler .
After the investiture of Officers the retiring W . M . delivered the three addresses , in so perfect a manner as to remain an everlasting and happy memorial to the Zetland members .
A gentleman was proposed tor initiation at the next meeting , and after hearty good wishes from Brethren and Visitors the Lodge was closed in harmony , and the Brethren adjourned to the banqueting room , where one of those excellent dinners was provided by Bro . A . Clemow for which the Hotel is so highly renowned , it being served under the personal supervision of Bro . G . M . Eyrr . The cloth being removed the visual Loyal toast of the Queen was given by the W . M . in a most hearty manner , to which the Brethren duly responded .
The next toast the W . M . had very much pleasure to propose , it being that of the M . W . G . M . the Prince of Wales , the Earl of Lathom Pro G . Master , Earl Amherst Deputy G . M ., and the Grand . Officers present and past , to which the Brethren attended , giving an extra fire for Bro . George Read the Secretary of their Lodge . Bro . Thwaites I . P . M ., on rising , was received with an ovation . It , was at once a duty and a pleasure to propose the health of the W . M . The time was short , but judging by the able manner in which he had invested his Officers he was sure he would make an excellent Master .
The Worshipful Masfcer was most heartily received . -He . first sincerely thanked Bro . Thwaites for proposing his health in such a cordial manner , and then thc Brethren for receiving it so enthusiastically . . He was greitly indebted to them for electing him to the honourable office of Master , and jelt sure that , with such able support as the Officers could give , they would be able to make the Zetland Lodge still more prosperous than it had been in the past .
The W . M . nexfc proposed fche toast of the I . P . M . in eloquent terms , and presented him with the jewel of the Lodge , at the same time hoping he might wear ifc for many years to come , a sentiment which was sealed with a . good fire .
Bro . Thwaites I . P . M . rose to reply , but it was quite a few moments before the enthusiasm of the Brethren allowed him to do so . He sincerely thanked the company for receiving his health in such a hearty manner . What he had done was purely for the love of Masonry . He most sincerely thanked them for the handsome jewel , just presented , and for the comfortable way in which he had spent his year of office , with the assistance of his Officers . The W . M . had very much pleasure in proposing the health of the Visitors . The Zetland Lodge was always proua and pleased to see guests .
Bro . Dehane was called upon to reply , and in the course of his remarks said he congratulated the I . P . M . on his admirable work , and recommended the Brethren coming on to office to attend the Lodge of Instruction , of which their dear Bro . George Read was the Preceptor , and who , during the course of his twenty-eight to thirty years Preceptorship , had taught . nearly the whole of the Worshipful Masters who had presided in the Zetland Lodge . Bro . Dehane concluded by drawing attention to the charge delivered by the I . P . M ., which had so much impressed the initiates , who intended as far as possible to act up to the precepts therein laid down .
Bro . T . Thwaites , the Brother of the I . P . M ., said he had come that night by the invite of their retiring W . M . He could say what he had seen of his working was perfection , and he should never forget it , because it was a most agreeable surprise . Bro . Cuff P . M . and several ofcher visitors also responded , in suitable manner .
The Treasurer and Secretary were nexfc toasted , for which Bro . Barker thanked the VV . M . He also thanked the members for having re-elected him as Treasurer of the Lodge . He would take care of the funds , and do everything in his power for the welfare of fche members . The Secretary also replied , thanking all for their reception . He was

PERFECT ASHLAR LODGE , No . 1178 . flTHE installation of Bro . Thomas Cox took place on the 7 th ult ., when I Bro . Gaywogd made a splendid Installing Master . The new Master's occupancy of his position after the ceremony showed that he will worthily till it . In fact , the general sense was that everything in the Lodge was wonderfully well done . A very satisfactory balance-sheet was presented .
BLACKHEATH LODGE , No . 1320 . rpiHE installation of Bro . Edward A . Rice a , s Worshipful Masfcer took place JL at the Bridge . House . Hotel , London Bridge , on the 21 st ult . It so happened that the function occurred upon Trafalgar Day , and the after proceedings were carried out in the Trafalgar Room , amid , a . profusion of pretty and chaste floral decorations .
The ceremony was performed by the outgoing Master Bro . George 0 . Pike , who was complimented on thus ably concluding a successful year .
EBURY LODGE , No . 1 ' 348 . THIS well-known musical Lodge met at the Criterion , on Tuesday , 26 th ult ,, fpr the'dispatch of'business , Bro . H . Morris W ; M . The Lodge being duly opened , the W . M . proceeded . to ; pass _ ro . Frederick William Field . At the completion of the-Ordinary business the .-Lodge was closed in due form , and Brethren and Visitors partook . ofithe . hospitality for which the Ebury Lodge is noted .
Bro . Davies I . P . M . proposed the toasfc ofithe W : M .,. who : had ,. he said , now attained to the meridian of his year of office . , He hadshown himself a good Mason , who delighted it its ceremonies , and bad , the .. cause of . charifcy at heart , and •therefore the . spirit which should animate the Craffc . There never had been a Master in the chair of the Ebury Lodge who had more honourably carried out the traditions of the Order .
Bro . > H . Morris suitably responded to the toast , which . had ; been , warmly honoured by Officers , Brethren , and Visitors .
ORPHEUS LODGE , No . 1706 . /( INHERE was a large assemblage on Saturday , 30 th ult ., at the Holborn JL Restaurant , on the occasion of the Orpheus , one of the early musical Lodges of the metropolis , celebrating the installation of , a new Worshipful Master . There was no business on the programme save the installation , and the appointment and investiture of Officers , says the " City Press . "
After the minutes had been confirmed Bro . D . Sutton Shepley W . M . installed Bro . Albert Fox as Master for the ensuing twelve months . Bro . Shepley received the collar of Immediate Past Master , and subsequently was presented with a handsome Past Master's jewel .
After the addresses to the Master , Wardens , and Brethren , fche Lodge voted . £ 15 to fche widow of a . late P . M ., in addition to £ 10 already voted from the Benevolent Fund . After transacting some other business , the Brethren , who appeared in mourning for two deceased members , closed the Lodge , and adjourned to a choice banquet .
The customary toasts , were given later on , and some magnificent , musical performances were contributed during the evening by Bro . Fred Bevan , ' the ' •Celia" Quartette , Bros . Dyved Lewys , Harvey Lohr , Carrington Willis , and Sutton Shepley . Bro . Stevenson Hoyte Past Grand Organist responded to the toast of the Grand Officers .
Bro . Sutton Shepley proposed the W . M ., and said the position of Masfcer , one would think , was the culminating point of a Mason ' s ambition ; but the wisdom of the ancient Brethren ordained ifc differently . The great moment of a Master ' s life was when he placed his successor in the chair , and more especially was it so when that successor was an old friend , a worthy man , and a good Mason ; and when fchat Brother was able to do his work well the pleasure of installing him was a hundredfold .
Bro . Albert Fox W . M . responding , said he felt his position very acutely . The Orpheus was his Mother Lodge , and the only one he belonged to . He was born and bred in it , and he was proud to be the W . M . of such a large and such a distinguished Lodge . He was not equal to responding to the kind words used by the I . P . M . with regard to himself ; he could only say that during his year he should do all in his power to make the Lodge a success .
He afterwards proposed the toast of the I . P . M ., whom he congratulated on his working , and on the success which attended the ladies' night , that he inaugurated . Bro . Sutton Shepley replied , and said that , although he suggested the ladies' night , its success was caused by the energy with which the Officers and Brethren of the Lodge carried out his proposal .
BOROUGH LODGE , No . 2589 . THIS Lodge , of which Bro . Roots is W . M ., held its ladies' night on Wednesday , 27 th ult ., at the Bridge House Hotel . The Lodge met at 4-30 , and the ceremonies of raising and passing were performed . At 6-30 a reception * and banquet took place in the big hall of the Bridge House . The
banquet gave universal satisfaction . At its conclusion the customary speeches were given , and a splendid musical evening provided , under the superintendence of the Organist Bro . Waterman . In all 99 Brethren and visitors were present . The evening was a most enjoyable one , and all who attended had nothing but praise for the hosfc and the arrangements .
