GUARDIAN LODGE , No . 2625 . THE regular meeting was held at the Ship and Turtle , on Thursday , 28 th ult ., Bro . 3 . Tollwonhy Worshipful Master presiding . After the formal opening of the Lodge , and " the confirmation of fcho minutes of the previous meeting , the W . M . raised Bros . H . Wren Olvor , W . . Oatley , P . W . Greenaway , E . O . Ardley , and J . F . Elgar , giving the ' traditional history . He then passed to the second degree Bros . G . H . Daw and H . W . Bundyand gave the lecture on the tracing board .

, The Brethren next unanimously elected Bro . Henry V . Clements Senior Warden as Worshipful Master of tho Lodge for next year . Bro . W . J . Johnston , CO ., was re-elected as Treasurer , and Bro . Partridge P . M . as Tyler , while Bros , the Rev . P . Clementi Smith , W . H . Barton , and Brown were appointed to serve on the Audit Committee .

Bro . Bullock P . G : S . B . J . W . proposed , and Bro . W . Harvey Barton I . G . seconded , the gift of a Past Master ' s jewel of the value of ten guineas to Bro . / Tollworthy , on his leaving the chair , as a testimony of the Brethren ' s appreciation of his services to the Lodge as its first Worshipful Master . The motion was , carried unanimously .

On the motion of Bro . Barton I . G ., seconded by Bro . Clements S . W . and < W . M .-elect , the Lodge resolved to grant ifcs sanction to a new-Lodge of Instruction , to be called the Guardian Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Tollworthy W . M . proposed , " fchat a bye-law be added to the Bookof Bye-laws , to read thus : ' That the Lodge working shall be the working of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , as recognised by Grand Lodge . ' " Bro . Bullock J . W . seconded the motion , which was then put and carried unanimously .

Bro . Tollworthy W . M . sfcafced that ,-with the permission of the W . M .-elect , he would stand as Steward for the Lodge at fche Centenary Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , in 189 S . The Lodge was then closed , and the Brethren adjourned to dinner . The usual toasts . followed , says the " City Press . " .

The . J . W . Bro . Bullock P . G . S . B . responded to tlie toast of the Grand Officer .- ; , and said there were now two Grand Officers in the Guardian Lodge —Bro . Shurmur and himself . M . of the Guardian Lodge , who , by giving during . his year the charges in the different degrees , the lecture on the tracing board , and the traditional history , had set an example to all the Brethren who were working to be his successors in the chair .

The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and tho lecture worked by Bros . H . M . Pollock 2501 , N . Goldman D . C . 1349 , W . Yetton P . M . 1349 ( in the absence of Bro . T . Blyth ) , J . Oxley P . M . 1349 , and W . Yetton P . M . ' .

The Lodge was next advanced to the third degree and the sections of that lecture were worked by Bros . L . A . DaCosta P . M . 1349 , N . Goldman ( in the absence of Bro . T . A . Arter P . M . 1278 ) , and T . Davis I . G . 1349 . The working being ended the Lodge was closed down , and well deserved compliments were paid to the acting Brethren , for the most perfect rehearsal of the different sections , especial praise being accorded those Brethren who ably took , the places of those who were unavoidably prevented from "being present to work fcheir sections in accordance with tho programme .

It was proposed by Bro . Stewart tbat a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to Bio . L . Simmons the W . M ., for the most perfect and able manner in which he had fulfilled fche duties of the chair . His popularity was shown by the number of Brethren present . They had on a previous occasion heard the W . M . give a lecture , and although they could nofc again make him an Honorary Member yet they could say they would always be delighted to see him .

The W . M ., in acknowledgment of the compliments paid him , sincerely thanked the Preceptor and tho Brethren for tho vote of thanks , but he had specially to thank others for their kind assistance .
