thoughts , so many reminiscences rushed through his mind . He had on all sides received so tnucli kindness and sympathy that he was overpowered ; he quitted the chair with regret , on that account . Perhaps they would say it savoured somewhat of selfishness , but it was so , for that , reason . He was thankful that the Great Architect of the Universe had been pleased to allow his year of office to ho
nnclonded . They all felt their indebtedness tollim for such prosperity . Tho jewel he had been invested with ho should est com ns the most valuable of his earthly possessions , because of its associations , no should hand it down as nn heirloom to his son , whom ho hoped at no distant day to initiate in this Lodgo , for of all tho pleasant and gratifying sights possiblo to behold ho considered that of a fathor
and son being in one Lodge as the most pleasing imaginable . They had elected him to serve as Steward for them at tho Festival of the Girls' School , to be held in April next , which would soon be approaching . What were they prepared to givo him ? Last year Past Master F . Dnnn collected £ 100 , and ho worked hard and also successfully , and they thanked him for it . Ho merited thanks , but
he ( the speaker ) would not bo content with that sum ; far from it . Ho intended to call on each , brother for a contribution , and that not a small one . Thero mnst be n . good list from the Royal Jnbileo Lodge , for what would be said of them if they failed to do their duty ? If he possessed health , it would afford him the greatest amount of pleasure to contribute towards such
a noble institution . During the past week ho had seen tho orphan child of one who had been among them . That interesting child was delighted to toll him abont the care , attention , and kindness she daily received from tho mistress , and all associated with tho institution on Clapham Common , and thereforo , in order to extend the usefulness thereof , he shonld expect a response to his appeal
far exceeding that of previous years . Thero was no reservation in what he expected , and what ho must havo . The Worshipful Master then proposed the health of tho Initiates most gracefully , which compliment was acknowledged in tho same manner . The Worshipfnl Master said that on all occasions when thoy met , for some reason or other , they were honoured with the presence of visitors ,
and thoso who were then present would come again . Thero was such a long list , containing nearly forty names , that they would pardon him if he did not read over tho whole of them . He need not call on the brethren to greet the toast with a Royal Jubilee fire . Bro . Wildey Wright responded . Ho observed that if the
Visitors had to remain in the Temple , as they had that afternoon from three to eight , and conld not glean information , it would be an ordeal . Bnt thoy had obtained a vast amount of knowledge , and could adopt the languago of a poet with whom they were all familiar : —
" We have been there , and still would go ,, 'Tis like a little heaven below . " On tho part of the Visitors he expressed cordial thanks for the attention they had received on that occasion . No doubt the Lodge , with such Officers , . would go on and prosper . The Masonic Charities ,
tho Past Masters , the Officers of tho Lodgo , were then given and acknowledged , the Tyler ' s toast concluding the proceedings of tho evening . The excellent vocalisation of Bros . J . Tear , Ford , A . . J . Cox , aud others contributed to the pleasures of the evening . Bro . Fox presided at the pianoforte with his usual ability .
