their W . M . was a man who was respected in every capacity . The W . M . said he was indebted to Bro . L . Beck for his kind remarks . He was one of the Founders of the Lodge ; he was proud to say he had received great assistance from Bro . Beck . When he was initiated ifc was by an Italian , that was seven years ago . Bro . Docket is a Belgian , and the next Master he hoped would be a Frenchman j

he wished to pay a good and just compliment to Bro . Docker , who had installed him into the chair . He had done so . be might say , without any effort , although he had to master the difficulties of two languages . This he had done thoroughly , as they bad heard , not only to-night , but on many occasions—he 13 one whom they all re . specfc . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Visitors , to whom

he gave a hearty welcome . Bro . Stoppani , No . 1 , Lugani , in a very exhaustive speech responded . Bro . Festa followed ; he was proud to see the W . M . in fche chair ; he knew no better working Mason , nor one who had tbe interests of the Craft more afc heart . The W . M . then proposed the toasfc of the P . M . ' s . There were only three present—Bros . Docker , Hancock , and Beck . Last

bnt nofc the least worthy , was Bro . Docker , whom he had invested with the Collar of Secretary . He is already most anxious to do good in Masonry , and where there is working Bro . Docker is always ready to assist . Bro . Docker , in responding , said he had done what he conld for their comfort ; bis services | were afc their disposal , not only in his old , bnt in his new capacity . The W . M . then proposed the toasfc of the Wardens and Officers . The S . W . had now filled that office

for two years . It would be a great pleasure to say that it was with his concurrence that he , the W . M ., had been eleoted . Bro . THIS successful Lodge met afc the Highbnry Railway Hotel , Islington , on Tuesday last , to celebrate its annual meeting . The Lodge was opened at 4 . 30 , by Bro . A . W . Fenner , who was ably supported by his Officers , while several visitors attended to do hononr to the occasion . Tho bnsiness of the evening comprised the reading of the minutes of last meeting , which were unanimously confirmed ; the installation of a Master for tbe new year , aud tbe introduction of

a candidate into Freemasonry ; besides routine work usual on these occasions . Brother Fenner , who is well known as a shining light in Freemasonry , nndertook the duty of installing his successor , and Bro . Mather , who acted as M . C , introduced the W . M . elect , Bro . Henry Hall . . After the candidate bad given his unqualified assent to the fulfilment of the duties devolving upon him in his new capacity , ho

was obligated , nnd in due conrso a Board of Installed Masters was opened , and tho ceremony was proceeded with . The following brethren received the collars and insignia of offic 3 : —Crosbie S . W ., Weston J . W ., H . P . Isaac P . M . Treasurer , C . K . Killick sen . P . M . Secretary , Thompson S . D ., Opperman J . D ., Pummel I . G ., Williams M . C , Defriez W . S ., T . Bowler Tyler . In dne course tbe addresses were delivered ,

and Bro . Fenner resumed his seat amidst congratulations . The new W . M . now proceeded to initiate Mr . William Andrew Francke , who bad been proposed by Bro . Snook , and seconded by Bro . Trewinnard P . M ., and for whom the ballot bad been taken in the earlier part of the evening . Bro . Hall proved himself a worthy successor to the competent workers who have hitherto filled the chair in this Lodge .

Later on tbe Auditors Report was adopted , and after some other matters had received consideration Lodge was clo 3 Pd . The banqnet was capitally served by Brother John Baker , who spared no effort to add to tbe comfort of his patrons . On the removal of the cloth , the W . M . briefly introduced the Loyal toasts . On Brother Fenner the I . P . M . rising , he said : This was the first time he had had the

opportunity of wielding the gavel as I . P . M . of the Kingsland Lodge . He was assured their W . M . desired the aid and co-operation of the Officers and members ; personally he ( Bro . Fenner ) was assured he would receive every assistance . ETe had great pleasure in proposing the toast of the W . M . Bro . Snook hero sang tho "Old Brigade , " which he rendered in capital style . Tho W . M . in reply thanked one and all for tho kindness he had met with . lie would strive earnestly to advance the welfare of the Lodge , which , as one of tho Founders , he takes a deep interest in . Alexandra Palace Lodge of Instruction , No . 1541—This excellent Lodge of Instruction , of which the well-known and respected Brother J . R . Stacey , ia the Preceptor , is held in con . nection with the Loughborough Masonio club , and nntil last week met regularly on Saturday evenings afc Longhborongh Jnnotion . A removal having been considered necessary , arrangements were made with Bro . C Sims , of the Station Hotel , Camberwell New-road , and

at that prosperous and prospering establishment the meeting of Saturday last was , for the first time , held . There was a very large gathering of members and friends , tbe large room which Bro . Sims has provided for tbe accommodation of the Lodge being occupied to its fullest extent . Amongst those present we observed Bros . J . A ; Smith W . M ., J . Butterwortb S . W ., J . B . prevailed . Mr . A . E . Spent presiding at the piano , and Mr . T . White and several brethren sang excellently and to the expressed satisfac « tion of all present . This musical termination to Lodge work will be repeated on each future first and third Saturdays . The earnest- en . deavours of Bro . Stacey to render this Lodge of Instruction efficient deserves encouragement , and we hope to see still larger gatherings as occasions may offer .

Last night tho annual installation of , tbe Marquis of Ripon Lodge , No . 1489 , was to be held at the Hall of the Metropolitan Societies' Asylum , Balls Pond-road , Dalston , when the Rev . F . T . Twining , of the Homerton Hospital , was a candidate for initiation by the retiring W . M ., Bro .

James Glaskin , assisted by his Officers . Bro . William Stephens P . P . G . D . C . Middlesex , and a Past Master of more than one Lodge , was subsequently to be installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , and to invest his Officers . Wo hope to give a full report of tbe proceedings , and of the banquet which , is to follow , iu our next issue .

Bro . Erasmus Wilson , F . R . S ., has been sworn in as an Assistant of the Carriers' Company of London .. The Greshatn Hall Angling Society has now removed to Bro . Wood ' s , Masons' Hall Tavern , Masons' Avenue , where its meetings

will be held every Tuesday evening , instead of Thursday , as heretofore . Papers will be read on the first Tuesday in each month , tbe series being introduced on Tuesday evening last by Cap tain Alfred , who read an exceedingly interesting essay on barbel

prevailed . Mr . A . E . Spent presiding at the piano , and Mr . T . White and several brethren sang excellently and to the expressed satisfac « tion of all present . This musical termination to Lodge work will be repeated on each future first and third Saturdays . The earnest- en . deavours of Bro . Stacey to render this Lodge of Instruction efficient deserves encouragement , and we hope to see still larger gatherings as occasions may offer .

Last night tho annual installation of , tbe Marquis of Ripon Lodge , No . 1489 , was to be held at the Hall of the Metropolitan Societies' Asylum , Balls Pond-road , Dalston , when the Rev . F . T . Twining , of the Homerton Hospital , was a candidate for initiation by the retiring W . M ., Bro .

James Glaskin , assisted by his Officers . Bro . William Stephens P . P . G . D . C . Middlesex , and a Past Master of more than one Lodge , was subsequently to be installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , and to invest his Officers .
