He gave it from beginning to end in his happiest vein , and was loudly and deservedly applauded at intervals and at tho close . A hearty vote of thanks , proposed by Bro . Binckes , was carried with acclamation . The ladies and brethren then adjourned for light refreshment , and the party returned to town , highly delighted with whnt they had heard and seen , while " Our Boys" retired to rest in a state which is more easily imagined than described .

Dr . Strong took the chair , and Bro . John Constable the vice-chair . Dr . Strong proposed three toasts , the Qneen , the Founders of the Feast , and Bro . Norris and Miss Norris , the Warden and Matron of tho Institution .

Bro . Edgar Bowyer , who was coupled with the toast of the Founders of the Feast , said in his reply that the success of the Institution was the most earnest wish of himself and the other brethren who took part in these entertainments . Bro . Norris , whom Dr . Strong claimed aa the oldest Mason in the world , replied for himself and daughter , whohe said , was both right and left hand to him , without her he

, would not bo able to perform his duties ; and he concluded by wishing the whole party a very Happy New Year . Bro . Tattershall , at a dinner of which thoso brethren afterwards partook , who had waited on the old people at their dinner , mentioned that there was a balance of £ 15 still owing for a beautiful piano which had been just purchased 1 of Messrs . Broadwood , for the Institution , and he suggested that the

brethren mig ht raise that money by appeals to their various Lodges and Chapters . Some brethren thought they might raise it at once and this suggestion was adopted . In the course of a few minutes the requisite amount was subscribed . The company , after dinner , visited the old people in their residences and took tea with them , and in the evening a dramatic and mnsical entertainment was given , of which

" Miss Terry also sang , and then Uncle ' s Will was performed by Mr . Moore , Miss Edridge , and Mr . S . Edridge . The company wero regaled with wine and other refreshments during the evening , and the visitors returned to town soon after ten o ' clock .

THE General Committee of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys met hat Saturday afternoon at Freemasons' Hall , when there were present Bros . W . Ferryman , John Palmer , W . F . C . Moutne , and Frederick Binckes P . G . Steward ( Secretary ) . A vote of thanks was passed unanimously to the Bazaar Committee of the Pupils' Assistance Fund for the present to the band of the Institution of a silver cornet-a-piston , manufactured by F . Besson and Co ., as a mark of appreciation of the services of the band on the occasion of the holding of the Bazaar in

June last . The report of the Special Committee on Collingwood ' s case was read . The Committee reported that the General Committee should recommend the Quarterly Court to declare Collingwood duly elected . This finding was based on an inquiry into all the circumstances of the case , and on a report of an accountant , who had had the will , books , and accounts of the late Bro . Collingwood before him ,

that the widow was now entitled to £ 130 a year , and would by the year 1883 , when the last of certain bills should have maturp d , be in receipt of another £ 50 a year . The candidate was also now entitled to £ 40 a year for his maintenance and education , the interest of £ 1170 , to which he would be absolutely entitled on attaining twenty-ono years of age . On these reports being read , Bro . C . F . Matier moved ,

" That the Report of the Special Committee be not adopted . " The accountant ' s report showed that the mother of the candidate was not destitute . She had two children to bring np , each of whom was entitled to £ 40 a year till twenty-one years , and then they would come into possession of the capital , The School ought not to be saddled with a case of that sort . From his own personal knowledge there was

many a liberal contributor to the Institntion who conld not afford to leave his widow and family so well off as the late Bro . Collingwood had . There was many a more deserving case than this , which would be shut out if Collingwood were admitted . Bro . Gladwell seconded Bro . Matier's motion . Bvo . J . G . Chancellor supported the

adoption of the Special Committee ' s Report . While Bro . Collingwood was alive , his wife and family were living in affluent circumstances , at the rate of £ 800 or £ 000 a year . tnno , and the case was really a case of distress . If the Committee were to reject all cases of this description , and only admitted those that were absolutely destitute , the Masonic Schools would be reduced from their present position to that of pauper schools . Bro . Raynham W . Stewart adopted the view of Bro . Chancellor , and Bro . Roebuck remarked that he thought the report of the Special Committee waa

right . Tho Committee then divided , and the Report was rejected . Thirteen petitions to place candidates on tho list for the April election were read aud examined , out of which nine were accepted absolutely , and threo conditionally . Outfits of £ 5 each were given to two former pnpils of tho School , and £ 20 was granted to an exceptional caso , in which the lato pupil is studying for the medical

profession . The brethren then settled tho list of candidates for next election , which , including tho three cases accepted conditionally , will havo on it seventy-seven candidates . There will be vacancies in the School for only twenty boys . Bro . Raynham W . Stewart gave notice that ho would move at the Quarterly Court , to be held on

Monday next , at four o ' clock , p . m . — " That to commemorate the twenty years' services of tho Secretary , Bro . Binckes , and ia recognition of the ability shown by him during that period , and also having regard to the success achieved by his exertions , he be granted a gratuity of £ 200 out of tho Funds of the Institution . " A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings .

thin features , slightly built . Wore Serge Coat and Trousers , and Silk soft Cap . Took with him a pair of Tweed Trousers , light colour and ribbed , Vest of same material ; may be wearing these . Said he belonged to Birkenhead , and kept a confectioner ' s shop there some timea ^ o . Haa

been to sea in mail boats as baker . The Certificate stolen is in the name of " JOSEPH RICKAKDS , " Homfray Lodge , 1562 , " which he uses as a means to obtain relief from Freemasons .

This Certificate was presented at Oswestry , on the 3 rd instant , and may be presented to Masters of Masonic Lodges in other places , who are requested to give immediate information to the police . The Police are particularly requested to inquire for this person , and 1 1 ! A 1 il i ir 1 '
