rriHE Installation meeting of this numerous and excellent working . L Lodge was held ou Monday , tho 3 rd inft ., at the Albion Tavern , Aldersgate-street . Lodge having been opened , and the minntes read and confirmed , Bros . H . L . Phillips and P . Feeney 1017 ( the latter by courtesy of the W . M . ) were raised to the third degree . A ballot was taken for the admission of Mr . Elias Simmons , and as this proved

successful , he was duly initiated into the Order . Both the ceremonies were perfectly rendered . After the usual preliminary ceremonial , a Board of Installed Masters , consisting of no less than twenty-six W . M . 's and P . M . 's , was opened , and Bro . R . Baker S . W . and W . M . elect was duly installed into the chair by the retiring W . M . Bro . Hymans , whose work was done in a masterly and impressive manner

thafc was highly appreciated , and warranted the encomiums passed on him by the brethren and Visitors . At tho conclusion of the ceremony brethren below the rank of Installed Master returned to the Lodge , and the W . M . was saluted in accordance with ancient custom . thanks be recorded on the minutes to Bro . Hymans for the ablo manner in which he had performed the ceremony of installation , whioh was carried unanimously . The resignation of a brother was accepted , with regret . Two distressed brethren were relieved from the funds of the Lodge . Nine propositions for initiation were handed in to the Secretary . The Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren ,

109 in number , sat down to a sumptuous and recherche banquet , provided by Bro . Jennings , and superintended by Bro . Silver . After dinner the W . M . proposed the toast of the Queen and the Craft . The National Anthem having been sung , he next gave the toast of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales Grand Master , who , all know , took a deep intesest in Freemasonry . Bro . Heine Hugo sang "Non Pin

Andrai , " after which followed the toast of the Pro Grand Master , the Deputy Grand Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers present and past , Bro . Baker remarking that they were pleased as well as honoured by the presence of several distinguished Grand Officers , among them being R . W . Bro . Giddy District G . M . Griqualand , Bro . Wendt Grand Secretary for German Correspondence , and Bro . T .

Cubitt P . G . P . After a duet , by Madame F . Brooke and Bro . P . E . Van Noorden , Bro . Giddy expressed his sense of the honour that had been paid him and his brother Grand Officers . He pointed out that in Bro . Albert the Lodge had a member who was a host in himself , and one with whom but few conld compete in his good and kindly feeling He also thanked them on behalf of Bros . Wendt and Cubitt ,

and concluded by commending the Lodge for its capital working and the cordial reception it extended towards visitors . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Joppa Benevolent Fund , connecting with it the name of the President , Bro . L . Alexander P . M . Bro . Benjamin having played a solo on the flute , accompanied by Bro . Van Noorden , —which was so highly appreciated that it had to be given

a second time , —Bro . L . Alexander P . M . rose , and requested the Secretary of the Fund to read the minntes of the last meeting , which showed that a sum of £ 1 , 004 16 s 5 d was then p laced to their credit . He gave an account of the rise of the Fund and its application , stating that a short time since they had thought they should have had to sell out stock , but he had to thank Bro . Lazarus P . M . for his

energy during the evening , that brother having collected the sum of £ 317 s . The names of the contributors having been read out seriatim , Bro . Hymans rose and expressed the great pleasure he felt in calling upon the brethren to drink the health of the W . M . They had seen how ably he had acquitted himself since his installation , and they wonld , he was sure , be proud of him when , on the next

occasion , he had to fulfil his duties . After Miss Florence Williams had sung , " Why are you wandering ? " the W . M ., in reply , remarked there were certain events in every man ' s life of which he felt proud . He trusted he should not belie the hopes they had formed of him ; they had seen his past position , and he hoped that in future he should discharge his duties with precision , deviating neither to the

right nor the left , so that when he left the chair the Lodge would not have lost any of its prestige . The W . M . then proposed the health of one they were proud of—the new initiate , who had come among them with a good introduction , and had already shown his good qualities and appreciation of Freemasonry , by giving a substantial amount to the Charity Fund . Bro . Benjamin having sung a vory admirable song , Bro . Elias Simmons , in brief but appropriate terms , responded

to the toast . The W . M . then gave the health of the I . P . M . Bro . H . Hymans , which was enthusiastically received , and said it was always a pleasant duty to be the exponent of the praise due to one who had performed his duties so ably dnring his year ot his oBice . All had seen and experienced his genial presidency at banquet , and all admired the ability with which he had fulfilled his duties . It gave him the greatest pleasure to present to Bro . Hymans the testimonial which

had been voted him by the Lodge . The jewel , whioh was of very elegant design and bore a suitable inscription , was then pinned on Bro . Hymans' breast , and the latter , after a brief interval , in whioh Madame Frances Brooke sang , rose and returned his warmest thanks , both for tho kind words of the Worshipful Master in proposing the toast , and for the hearty reception it had met with from all the

brethren . He thanked them for their handsome present , in recogni . tion of his services during the past year . The W . M . then proposed the henlth of the Visitors , and , having mentioned their names , said how pleased they were to receive them . He called ou Bro . T . Cubitt P . G . P . to respond . Tho call having been answered , tho toast of tho Past Masters was given , and responded to by Bros . A . G . Dodson

and H . M . Levy . In giving tho toast of the Wardens , Bro . Baker spoke in complimentary terms of their zeal aid ability , as already evinced that very day . To the toast of the Secretary and Treasurer those Officers severally responded , and the " Junior Officers " was acknowledged by Bros . Blanks , Baum , and Davis . After the Tyler ' s toast had been given , the brethren separated . Great credit

is due to Bro . P . E . Van Noorden for his excellent programme of music , both vocal and instrumental , and also to Bro . Dodson P .
