This was the first meeting of the members of this Lodge of Instruction for the year , and to add to the general comfort , the room was covered with a splendid Masonic carpet . We can recommend a visit to this pretty little Lodge . Tho ' anniversary dinner will take place on Tuesday , 25 th inst .

Islington Lodge of Instruction , No . 14 = 71 . —A meeting was held on Tuesday , 4 th Jannary , at the Moorgate Tavern , Finsbury Pavement . Bros . C Fountain W . M ., Kern S . W ., Thompson J . W ., C . G . Sparrow Sec , Redding S . D ., Hepburn I . G ., and several others . Visitor—Bro . David Davidson , of St . John ' s Lodge , Liverpool , No , 673 . Lodge opened , and the minutes were read and confirmed .

The ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Shipley candidate . The W . M . gave the traditional history and full explanation of the Tracing Board of the degree . The W . M . next rehearsed the ceremony of passing , with the same brother representing the candidate . Bro . Kern was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . Bros . Lovell and Smith , of the Lodge of Perseverance 1743 , were elected members . Lodge was closed and adjourned .
