M . worked the first and fourth sections of tho first lecture . Lodge opened to

tho second . Bro . Koester offered himself as a candidate for raising , •was examined and entrusted . Lodgo opened up , and ceremony of raising , together with the traditional history , rehearsed . Lodge was closed to first degree . On the proposition of Bro . Koester , seconded by Bro . McLaren , the S . W . was elected W . M . for ensuing week ; he appointed his Officers in rotation . On the proposition of Bro . Kooster ,

seconded by Bro . J . E . W . Smith , t , voto of thanks was unanimously recorded on the minutes to the W . M . for tho able manner in which he had performed the duties of tho evening . Proposed by W . M ., seconded by S . W ., that the Editor of tho FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE should be requested to supply the Lodge with a copy of that paper weekly . Carried . The Lodgo was opened by Bro . D . Nicols W . M ., who was supported by a numerous assemblage of brethren and visitors . After preliminaries , the report of tho Audit Committee was read ard adopted , it showed a balance

in hand of £ 176 15 s lOd . Bro . W . II . Bateman S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodge , and duly installed into the chair by Bro . J . Cleaver . The customary salutations having been given , the W . M . appointed and invested his Officers : —Bros . H . Mower S . W ., 11 . Coombs J . W ., L . Euf P . M . with a jewel , which had been presented by the members in recognition of his valuable services during his year of office . been said , the W . M . proposed the Loyal toasts . Bro . E . W . Stewart proposed tho toast of the Grand Officers , coupling with it the name of Bro . Hyde Pullen P . G . S . B ., who responded . Bro . D . Nicols I . P . M . proposed the health of The W . M ., whom he described as a Mason in heart and soul , oue they had known and respected for seven years . The W . M . thanked Bro . Nicols for his kind remarks , it was seven

years since ho visited this Lodge , thou under tho Mastership of Bro . Lilley ; he joined , but ho did not think he should ever have been sc honoured as to bo installed W . M . lie heartily thanked the members for the reception they had given tho toast . Before taking his seat he would propose the health of the Past ? . * ^ ters of the Lodtre . They

now numbered twelve . Bro . Enf had v ; : .-od them faithfully as Treasurer for fourteen years . Bro . Lilley introduced him ( the P . M . ) into Freemasonry , and Bro . Cleaver installed him ; to both of theso brethren thanks were due ; he would call on Bro . Kidder to respond . Bro , Kidder said he , as well as the P . M . ' s , felt a pleasure in re . spending ; io their name he returned the members his sincere thanks .

Bro . Dudley Eolls P . M ., Avith tho permission of the W . M ., proposed tho toast of the Visitors . Bro . Jas . Terry replied . Ho waa pleased to see the ablo manner in which Bro . Cleaver had performed the 03 i'eniony of installation . In the course of time he hoped thafc instead of twelve P . M . ' s they might see iwenty-four . Tho Visitors would bo equally ready to bo present . The W . M . then proposed the health of

tho Installing Master , Bro . Cleaver ; he as well was worthy of their regard and esteem . Bro . Cleaver thanked the W . M . and brethren for thoir kind expressions , lie felt great pleasure in installing Bro . Batoman ; ho felt it au honour to hear such complimentary remarks from Bro . Terry . He thanked Bro . Kidder for allowing him to perform tho ceremony . On Bro . Lilley P . M . devolved tho toast of tho

Treasurer and Secretary . Bro . L . Euf P . M . and Treasurer was enthusiastically received . He had but a few words to flay ; he had been twenty-four years a member , and fonrteen years Treasurer , and was the oldest P . M . of the Lodge . What he did , waa done for the interest of the members . Bro . Picard was tho noxfc in seniority ; both conld remember when they mustered but eighteen , now , to seo

such an assemblage was a great pleasure . They could nofc have a bettor Secretary , and to Bro . Snelgrove the success was mainly due , Bro . A . Snelgrove followed . Tho W . M . then proposed Prosperity to the Masonic Charities , urging the claims of the Institutions most forcibly . Their respected Bro . Terry Secretary E . M . B . Institntion was present ; he ( the W . M . ) was a Steward for tho Charities , as also were Bros .

Lilley and Cleaver , and he hoped the brethren would liberally subscribe . Bro . Terry in responding to tho toast gave statistics as to what was being dono by the Institutions . There were many deserving cases thafc camo under the notice of fche Committees . Tho W . M . then proposed the toast of tho Wardens and Officers . Bro . H . Mower aud W . H . G . Eudderforth replied . The W . M . had now to

apologiso for not proposing the health of tho I . P . M . with that of the Past Masters . However , all Avould agree Bro . Nichols was deserving of a special toast . Bro . H . P . Matthews gave a very humorous song , whioh was received with roars of laughter . In due course tho Tyler ' s toast was given , and the brethren separated . During tho evening some capital songs were given by Bros . H . P . Matthews , Frank Ward , Eudderforth , Pigarche , and others . Amongst

Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , No . 65 . — Held afc Hercules Tavern , Lt adenhall-street , on 28 th January Bros . King W . M ., Daniel S . W ., S . iyer J . W ., Eich S . D ., Eobarts J . D ., Shadier I . G ., Sparrow Preceptor . . Holland Sec ; Bros . Lucop , Maidwell , and Eichards . The cereuiony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Lucop candidate . Bro . Rich answered the questions leading to the second

M . then proposed Prosperity to the Masonic Charities , urging the claims of the Institutions most forcibly . Their respected Bro . Terry Secretary E . M . B . Institntion was present ; he ( the W .
