minutes of tho last regular meeting , as well as those of a Lodge of emergency , wero read and unanimously confirmed . Bro . Muggeridge was then invited to take the chair . On doing so he advanced the Lodgo to the second degree , and administered the obligation to Bro . J . M . Hodder , tho AV . M . elect . In due form a Board of Installed Masters was opened , and tho now AV . M . was regularly

inducted into the chair , Bro . G . A . Taylor P . M . acting most efficiently throughout tho proceedings as D . C . The newly installed AV . M . having been proclaimed , appointed the following brethren as his Officers for tho ensuing year : —Bros . E . G . Seaborn I . P . M ., J . F . Clark S . W ., G . AV . Hemmings J . W ., H . France ( re-elected ) Treas ., G . A . Taylor P . M . Sec , AV . J . Cattermolo S . D ., H . AVestmoro

J . D ., J . Finch I . G ., J . Addmgton D . C . The election of Tylor then took place , and resulted in Bro . Gullock being appointed to that office . The AV . M ., in tho name of tho Lodge , presented P . M . 's jewels to Bros . Taylor and James , and then a notice of motion was brought forward by tho Hon . Sec , Bro . Taylor , to the effect that the sum of five guineas bo given to each of the Masonic Charities . On

being pnfc to the Lodge , this vote was unanimously carried . No further business offering , tho Lodge was closed , and tho brethren repaired to the banquet , which was provided by Bro . Clemow in his best style . The banquet being finished , and usual toasts of tho Queen and tho Craft , H . E . H . the Grand Master , and tho Pro . G . M ., the Depnty G . M . and tho rest of the

Grand Officers , having been duly proposed and heartily received , Bro , Seaborn roso to give that of tho W . M . Ifc was a toasfc that ho folt sure wonld be heartily received by all present . They had known Bro . Hodder for several years in connection with the Lodge ; had seen him rise step by stop , and must havo appreciated Ihe way in which ho performed any duty that fell to his part . Ho felt save that

the new Master would use every effort to friake his year of office a . successful ono . Tho AV . M . in reply expressed his thanks for tho way _ in which mention of his nanip had been received . Ho hoped to havo health and strength to carry ont the duties of his office to tho satisfac . '' tion of himself , and trusted that at the end of his year of presidency ' he should merit tho approvaTof ? his Lodge . Ho next proposed the

' health of the Installing Master . He was sure that the way in which ; that Bro . had carried out-tho duties of his position must be gratifying to all . Bro . Muggeridge . thanked the members for the very kind way ' in which they had honoured tho toast . Ho had had tho pleasure of - ' installing many Masters of the'Stability Lodge , and although he had - not had an opportunity of attenditig . their meetings for upwards of

. ten years he could but remember the kind reception he always re-. ceived in days past .. lie Ijad for a short timo been a subscribing , member of tho Lodgo , and recalled the time he spent at its meetings ' with pleasure . Ho Was introduced to Freemasonry close upon forty ' years since ; the night after his initiation he had joined the Stabilit y Lodge of Instruction , dud since that itime ho had regularly attended

its meetings whenever he had boon in London . He regretted that the Lodge of Instruction was not better supported by tho members of tho mother Lodge , and hoped that in future tho members of the latter would make an effort to attencTtho meetings of the Lodge of Instrnction working under its sanction ^ The AV . M . next gave the toast ot' tho Past Masters . The 'Lodge was possessed of an array that

any Lodge might bo proud of . They had done good service during their respective terms of office , and since that time had been anxious to assist in any way they coiild . After a recitation from Brother Muggeridge , Bro . Seaborn , tho I . P . M . replied . He tendered his hearty thanks for tho kindness that had been shown him during his year of Mastership , and hoped as a P . M . that he would ho able to be of

service to the Lodge for many years to come . Bro . Drummond followed . He regretted that his business duties would not permit of his regular attendance at the Lodge , but assured the members that he looked lovingly oh the summons for each meeting as it came to him , and envied tho more fortunate members who wore able to be present . He was pleased to see so numerous a gathering , ancl happy that the

Lodge was in so prosperous a state . He would remind the Brethren that misfortune had necessitated tho widow of one of their oldest P . M . ' s making a claim on their charity . Considering the services which Bro . King had rendered the Lodge , he hoped the members would unite ancl make the candidature of his widow successful at the next election of the Eoval Masonic Benevolent Institution . Bro . Marfleet

expressed his thanks for the reception accorded tho toast . Ho hoped the Visitors bid had a pleasant evening . Tho next toasfc wiis that of the Visitors . The AV . M . said the Lodge was always ready ancl pleased to seo visitors . Ifc hoped each had spent a happy timo , and that they would make a point of attending at somo future mooting , and then havo an opportunity of witnessing tho working of the Lodge .

The toast having been acknowledged , tho u . M . gave that of the Treasurer and Secretary ; they were important Officers , no Lodge could get on properly without them . Bro . France was the first to reply . Ho had endeavoured to clo his best for tho Lodge , and trusted his efforts had resulted in some good for its members . He hoped the Lodge would continue to prosper . Bro . Taylor followed . He had

the pleasure of introducing the AV . M . into Freemasonry , and was gratified that ho had to fulfil tho duties of Secretary in a Lodgo presided over by so old a friend . The health of tho Officers was ni > xfc given , tho VV . M . referring in a few well chosen words to each ; they severally responded , promising to carry out tho duties of their respective positions to tho best of their ability . Tho Tyler ' s toasfc was now given , and the meeting was brought to a termination .

E , & O ., & O . Tho Lodge was opened about 4 p . m ., with solemn prayor , and the minutes of tho last meeting road and ratified . This being the meeting for installing tho W . M . elect , Bro . Lewis P . M . undertook the duty of Installing Master . Bro . Lewis explained that

as tho AV . M . elect was tho Presiding Worshipfnl Master , he would dispense with tho greater portion of tho ceremony . Accordingly , Bro . E . Smith was re-installed the AVorshipful Master for the ensuing year , aud as such received tho salutations of the brethren . Bro . Smith is to bo complimented upon receiving this most tangible mark of esteem and confidence from the members of the Square and

Compass Lodge , and the Lodgo is to bo congratulated upon ensuring for themselves tho Mastership of a Brother who has , during the |> . u- > t . year , ably performed his duty , and advanced the welfare of tho Lodge by adding greatly to its strength . By his geniality , uniform courtesy , and punctuality ho has gained tho high esteem and confidence of such a highly respectable Lodge as 1336 . The Worshipful

Master , with tho assistance of Bro . Lewis ,, invested his Officers for the next twelve months as follows : — J . Oswell Bury Immediate P . M ., J . C . Owen S . W ., Howel Davies J . W ., J . Thomas Lee Ty ler . Bro . Lewis delivered tho usual charges to tho E . nnd S ., and tho exhortation to the brethren . The Worshipful Master , before closing , announced the prosperous state of the Lodgv , as evinced by the Treasurer's report , which showed the balance of cash in hand to bo £ 10 , with a largo amount to be collected as fees due from members . Tho Lodgo was closed in harmony about 5 . 30 ,

and by request of tho AVorshipful Muster , the brethren adjourned to tho AVynnstay Arms Hotel , to banquet . It is hero worthy of note thafc a " sum of five guineas is to be appropriated from tho funds of tho Lodoe towards tho relief of fcho poor of Wrexham . By this generous act our worthy brethren havo demonstrated that Freemasonry teaches tho glorious principles of universal benevolence . Alter

the brethren had thoroughly enjoyed an admirably selected and well-catered menu , the cloth was removed , and tho Worshipful Master rose to propose fcho first toast of tho evening , " The Queen and the Craft , " which was loyally received , the brethren singing the National Anthem . Tho second toast , which embraced tho sovereign head of the Craft H . R . H . Tho Prince of

AVales was ably introduced by the VV . M ., who pointed out the great advantages which had accrued to Freemasonry while under the rule of His Eoyal Highness . The toast was received with full honours , and " God bless the Prince of Wales" was sung . Bro . E . Smith , in proposing the health of the Pro Grand Master , tho Depnty G . Master , and the Officers of the G . L . of England , said the high and important

functions appropriated to those distinguished Brethren were dischar"ed with great ability and Masonic zeal . The toast was heartily drunk . The Worshipful Master on rising for the fourth time , said the next toasfc brought them to their own neighbourhood , in fact to AVynnstay . No toasfc proposed in a Lodge in their province was more heartilv received than the one ho now had the pleasure of

submitting , whether they looked upon Sir AVatkiu \ V . AVynn as a Mason , as a landlord , or as a nobleman enjoying his many advantages , they conld but admire him for his many excellent virtues , ami his ability and readiness to aid the interests of tho Craft , the enjoyment of those who participate in tho chase , and above all his kind-hoartednoss , which prompts him to relieve the wants of tho unfortunate . He deeply regretted to say that thoir highly esteemed Prov . G . Master had not

the best of health ; at the present time ho is seeking that solace and recuperation which a more gonial climate than our own can afford . He considered the Officers of Prov . G . Lodgo deserved their entire sympathy and support . Ho united with the toast the names of Bios . Low , Lewis and Bury . The toast was received with great warmth of feeling . Bro . John Williams kindly obliged with a song , ably accompanied by Bro . Edesbnry at the piano . Bro . Low thanked the W . M . and brethren for tho honour dono him and the other Prov . Graud

Officers . The Worshipful Master had explained the canso ot the absence from homo of tho Prov . Grand Muster , otherwise he might have been among them . Ho feared the Prov . Grand Officers were a little slack in the affairs of tlie Province ; it was his wish to do all

in his power for the interests of the Craft generally , and especiall y the Province , of which he deemed it an honour to be a Graud Officer . Bro . Oswell Bury said he felt himself a humble representative of Prov . Grand Lodge . He hoped to seo a larger sprinkle of purple bestowed on the worthy aud older P . M . ' s of the Lodge , as a just

Compass Lodge , and the Lodgo is to bo congratulated upon ensuring for themselves tho Mastership of a Brother who has , during the |> . u- > t . year , ably performed his duty , and advanced the welfare of tho Lodge by adding greatly to its strength . It is hero worthy of note thafc a " sum of five guineas is to be appropriated from tho funds of tho Lodoe towards tho relief of fcho poor of Wrexham . AVales was ably introduced by the VV . M ., who pointed out the great advantages which had accrued to Freemasonry while under the rule of His Eoyal Highness . Master , and the Officers of the G . L . of England , said the high and important

functions appropriated to those distinguished Brethren were dischar"ed with great ability and Masonic zeal . The toast was heartily drunk . The Worshipful Master on rising for the fourth time , said the next toasfc brought them to their own neighbourhood , in fact to AVynnstay . No toasfc proposed in a Lodge in their province was more heartilv received than the one ho now had the pleasure of

submitting , whether they looked upon Sir AVatkiu \ V . AVynn as a Mason , as a landlord , or as a nobleman enjoying his many advantages , they conld but admire him for his many excellent virtues , ami his ability and readiness to aid the interests of tho Craft , the enjoyment of those who participate in tho chase , and above all his kind-hoartednoss , which prompts him to relieve the wants of tho unfortunate . the best of health ; at the present time ho is seeking that solace and recuperation which a more gonial climate than our own can afford . He considered the Officers of Prov . G .
