Companions , referring to the work in tho Province during the past year , and to tho satisfactory condition of the Chapters in tho Province . Ho alluded to tho rotiromont of Comp . Binckes from the Secretaryship of tho Boys' School , and explained tho scheme recommended by tho Board of
Governors of the Institution , whereby tho sum of £ 2500 to purchase an annuity for Comp . Binckes might be raised without in any way touching the present funds of tho Institution . Comp . LeFeuvre further explained tho scheme , by which each Lodge in England would be asked
to subscribe a small sum to meet the liability . Ho suggested that the Grand Superintendent , in his capacity of Provincial Grand Master , should be invited to call a special meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge to deal with the proposal . Freemasons of Dawlish havo formed themselves into a building company , for the purpose of erecting a Masonio Hall , where they can meet in comfort at their own convenience . A site has been obtainod on the Barton Estate facing tho main road from tbe Strand to tho old Dawlish Church . The structure will comprise on the ground floor an entrance lobby , reception or banqneting room , Tylora '
room , and lavatories , with a bold staircase leading to the Masonio Hall , whioh is practically situated on the first fljor . It measures 33 ft . in length by 22 ft . in width , and has an open timbered roof with a good system of ventilation . It is intended to locate a caretaker ' s residence at the rear , whioh ia rather a novelty in Masonic architecture . The elevation is of classic design of White Devon brick ,
with tbe arches and other ornamental work of fine rod Berkshire brick . Mr . G . Sondan Bridgman , of Torquay and Paignton , ia the architect , and tho lowest tender was that of Mr . W . J . Hatcher , for the sum of £ 614 . The work will be completed by August next . Bro . G . B . Avant P . G . A . S . is the W . M . of the Salem Lodge , No . 1443 , which is located at Dawlish , and will occupy the new hall . —Western Daily Mercury .
