George McEwan was passed to tho degree of Fellow Craft in a very careful manner by Bro . W . B . Pattison . Tlio E . W . M . having brought
forward the case of a widow who had formerly been relieved by the Lodge , but wasnnable to obtain anything from the Grand Lodge , aa her late husband , an English Mason , had not bean registered in Edinburgh , the Lodge again voted a sum for her relief as her husband had been an Officer of the Lodge .
St . MungO Encampment Of K . T . —The regular meeting was held in St . Mark ' s Hall , Buchanan-street , Glasgow , on 5 th Sept . Sir Knight R . Bell E . G ., J . 0 . Park D . C , G . W . Wheeler Prolate , J . Campbell Master . A petition from Comp . F . Jenkins , of Chapter 73 , was presented , and he was duly created and dubbed a Knight of the Temple by the E . C .
St . Mirren ' s Lodge , No . 129 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Monday , 4 th inst ., in their own Hall , Mass-street , Paisley . The Lodge was opened by Bro . H . S . Edmonds R . W . M . assisted , by Bros . A . McLeod I . P . M ., J . Busterd D . M ., Wm . Gemmell S . W ., G . Fisher J . W ., P . Blar Treas ., A . Macpherson P . G . T . Sec . There was a very large attendance of the brethren , and as visitors G . W . Wheeler
73 and G . Mason of 124 , Kilmarnock . On the reading of the minutes , a question arose as to the protest of the S . W . against the action of the I . P . M ., which on being referred to the R . W . M . he decided that the I . P . M . while presiding in his absence was invested with all the power that he himself possessed . He felt sure of this as soon as he heard of tho circumstances , and this opinion had been confirmed by that
of the Editor of the FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE , who had been written to by a member of the Lodge on this point of Masonic Jurisprudence . The S . W . said he would bow at once to the decision of the Chair , and apologise to the I . P . M ., as he had been under a misapprehension at the time he spoke . The J . W ., as the party principally aggrieved , hoped the noble and brotherly conduct of the S . W . would be
fully appreciated by the Lodge , and tho matter be thus settled . Bro . McLeod fully accepted the admission , as it was now stated to be only an error of judgment . Arrangements were then made for sending deputations to Greenock on the 12 th , and to Ayr on the 19 th inst ., when the Grand Master is to lay foundation stones in both those boroughs . The Lodge was then placed under the care of the J . W ., and the
brethren spent a couple of hours in a social manner . After the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , the R . W . M . gave "English Masonry , " coupling with it the name of Bro . Wheeler , who was an English as well as a Scotch Mason . Bro . Wheeler replied . Tho toast of the " Visiting Brethren " was acknowledged by Bro . Mason , of Kilmarnook . Bro . Wheeler then proposed " Prosperity to St . Mirren ' s Lodge , No . 129 , " and paid some well merited compliments to the Master and
Officers in general for the excellent style of their work , and for which it was so well known throughout the province . Bro . Edmonds in replying , said he was proud of the Lodge , but he was only reaping the fruit that had been sown by their old Past Masters . All that he hoped for was to maintain it in as good a state as he had received it ; he was glad to hear the encomiums bestowed on them by Bro . Wheeler , as from his position in Masonry and his connection with the press praise from him was doubly valuable .

Horsley , 933 , at the Egyptian Lodge of Instruction , held at tho " Hercules " Tavern , Leadenhall , City , on Thursday , the 28 th of September
We doubt not there will be a good muster on that occasion as Bro . Horsley is so excellent a worker of the sections . We are glad to say that the Preceptor of this Lodge , Bro . P . M . Wallington , will bo in his place on Tuesday evening next , having returned from tho country , where he has been for the benefit of his health . All Masonio business being ended , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and adjourned till Tuesday , 12 th September .

The report of the Audit Committee was road and adopted , showing the
prosperous state of the finances of the Lodge . The W . M . raised Bros . J . Tnrnbull and 0 . Bibra . A Board of Installed Masters was formed , and Bro . H . J . Green S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodge . Ho was installed by the retiring W . M ., who rendered the ceremony in an excellent manner . Having received the custo . mary salutations Bro . His father had been a Mason for forty years , and it was particularly gratifying for him to see his son initiated into Freemasonry . Several propositions were handed in , and the Lodge was
closed until the 1 st December . The brethren then sat clown to a banquet , where tho W . M . presided . He proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , including those of tho Wardens , P . M . ' s , Officers , and Visitors . These were duly responded to . During tho oveuin " a very elegant gold Past Master ' s jewel , with suitable inscription , was presented to the retiring W . M . for the zeal and ability displayed by
him during his occupation of the chair . The musical arrangements of the evening were very satisfactory ; they being uud < r the superintendence of Bro . W . Kipps .
