American Union Lodge has been presided over by thirtysix Worshipful Masters sinco its organisation , 20 th February 1776 . Nine of this number are living . She has furnished the following Masonic Grand Officers : Three Grand Masters—Ohio two , Connecticut ono ; three Deputy

Grand Masters—Ohio ono , Connecticut two ; four Senior Grand Wardens—Ohio three , Connecticut ono ; three Junior Grand Wardens , Ohio ; one Grand Treasurer , Connecticut ; two Grand Secretaries—Ohio one , Connecticut one ; ono Grand Junior Deacon , Ohio ; one Grand

Washington was not a member of our Lodge , but he visited it , and ho and family dined at ber banquets . We havo upon our rolls five honorary members of famo and distinction , of which the Lodge feels justly proud . Thoy are as follows : John D . Caldwell , Ohio ; Henry

Dresher , Missouri ; Cornelius Moore , Ohio ; Rob Morris , Kentucky ; Richard Vaux , Pennsylvania . Of this number three only are living . The one from Ohio has been—is

now—and he ever will be , a Grand Secretary . The one from Missouri is a Prince among his equals , and the honourable gentleman and Past Grand Master of Pennsylvania ia one of whom our nation may bo proud .

I am reminded to-night of ono brother far away , and yet ho is with us in spirit and is thinking of us at this moment . I need only mention tbe name of E . Winchester , of Oakland , California . There is also one " who has gone before , " whom I miss on this occasion , and it calls to my mind these lines :

" Sad memory muses whilst I stand In this familiar place ; I miss tho clasping of a hand , Tho vision of a face !" My brethron , that hand and that face is William B Mason .

A word to the Lodge : Be not content with what we havo done—do not think , when you havo laid aside your aprons , that your work is done . Masonic labour only ends in the grave—then go forth upon the checkered floor of life and battle against injustice and oppression , teach and

practico truth as wo have been instructed around our sacred altar . Our emblems are displayed in the broad canopy of hoaveu and are a constant reminder of the duty

wo owo to God , our neighbour and ourselves ; thus our whole duty is laid opou before us , visible from every standpoint , and cannot be unheeded by any true Mason . —Voice of Masonry .

The following address was delivered by M . Wor . Bro . J . Ross Robertson , Grand Master of Toronto , at the funeral service of the late Dr . Henderson P . G . M . and his grandson , Walter Walkem , at Kingston , in Decomber : — My Brethren of Kingston , —It soldon falls to the lot of man , I am

glad to say , to be called upon to discharge the sad duty that with yourselves I am about to take part in this raorniug , and 1 atu sure that I but re-echo the pulse-beat of the Craft when I state that the heart of this great jurisdiction , as tbe mesaago of death sounds in the twin households to which we are so closely allied , goes out iu fullest

and deepest sympathy for those who sorrow and gather around the grave of our venerated Past Grand Master James A . Henderson , and his grandson Walter , the boy just rising into ! -f ^ ht manhood the joy and hope of onr Past Grand Master Walkem . Oae was over with us iu our work , and for nigh half a century was a pear amougst the

Craftsmen of the Dominion , occupying with honour aud credit tho highest offices that uot only the Craft but the Capitular aud Templar Orders had it in their power to bestow ; one whose kindness of heart won for him the esteem of every Craftsman in the jurisdiction , who , an a citizen , was an example for all who know him , and who , by hi *

merits in the sphere of life in which the Great Architect h ; id called him , earned for himself tho respect of the bench aud the bar , even the country at large , and f . s a Cnristiau was ever earnest in all good works , a faithful follower of the gentle Nazaretie , whoso wcrk La * brightened the world and g iven us faitb , hope and charity . Now , by tho turaugo and sudden dignity ol' death , vvc mourn his loss , but wu

are gladdened by the thought that , when the roll of the ohosen ia called by the Great Architect in the Grind Lodgo above , the voice of James A . Henderson will answer , " I am here . " For onr Brother Walkom the Craft indeed ( loos sorrow . While for our friend and Brother Henderson we knew that the day when he would be gathered to his fathers could not bo far distant , we little

thought that the dark shadow would cross tho threshold of ono that we so lately looked up to and revored as our head , nor that hia eldest son , just at tho dawn of unnhood , with life ' s bright dream before him , would bo oalled away , and that the death anthem for the aged grandsiro would bo broken by sob 3 for the loving grandson . I feel that the kind hearts of the Craft will mourn for those that mourn ,

at 1 that tho prayer on its lips will be ; bat God may ba with them iu this , the hour of death , of gloom , and of weeping . Others , who know both better than I , will speak of them who are no more , and yet I feel that , occupying the seat so ably tilled by our departed brother , I could not open this meeting without a word that

would emphasize the sadness that fills onr souls when we think of the double sorrow , tho stroke that at one fell blow has darkened two homes , the one where the aged widow mourns , and the other where the weeping wife clasps tho hands that once caressed her , and kisses tbo lips of him who just a few hours before had called hor by tbe loving name of " mother .
