hailing from Lodgo Parfait Union , Marseilles , also Bro . Morrison I . P . M . of tho Strathaven 215 , who requested tho Lodge to confer the second degree on a brother of their Lod ^ e resident in Glasgow , which was kindly granted , and the ceremony performed by the E . W . M ., at the conclusion of which he announced that as this was their first meeting in the new hall they would go for a short timo on refreshment . After
the usual toasts , Bro . J . B . McNair responded for tho Provincial Lodge of Glasgow , Bro . J . L . Parvia replied in Spanish for himself and friend to tho toast of the Grand Orient of France , which Bro . Bland subsequently translated for the benefit of those unacquainted with that language . He expressed the pleasure he felt at this his
first visit to a Lodge workiug iu tho English language , and the kind manner in which they had been received . The American Grand Lodges were afterwards toasted iu honour of Bro . Johnson , also tho English , but Bro . Willis had unfortunately left . Bros . Mclnnis , McE wan , Harding , Hoye and others by their vocal abilities contributed to the pleasure of the evening .

the P . M . 's and visitors . A beautiful and valuable timepiece wa 3 presented by the W . M ., on behalf of tho Lodge , to Bro . J . E . Wisoman , with a suitable address , in which ho spoke highly of the valuable services rendered by Bro . Wiseman , not only as Seoretary of tho Lodge , but also in the working of the Lodgo at all times , when called npon . The timepiece was inscribed as follows : —
"Presented to Bro . J . E . Wiseman , by the brothren of the Lodgo of Hope , No . 433 , Brightlingsea , as a token of their esteem and ap . preciation of his long and diligent services as Secretary to the Lodge . " Bro . Wiseman , who was visibly moved by this unexpected recognition of his services , returned thanks in a few snitablo words . The
retiring W . M ., Bro . D . Griggs , spoke highly of his officers , and thanked the brethron for the able manner in which he had been supported . Ho complimented the W . M . on tho honourable position he had attained , and on his staff of officers for the year . The W . M ., in oxcellent terms , returned thanks , and stated that it was his intention to maintain tho honour of the Lodge , and hoped on
tho expiration of his term to leave it as unblemished as ho had received it . He hoped that tho brethron would rally round him as they had done round his retiring brother . two candidates initiated along with their one , which was readily granted , when Bro . Gordon initiated tho three gentlemen in good style . Tho Lodge was then raised to the Follow Craft degree , and two brethren were advanced thereto . The Lodgo was afterwards raised to the 3 rd degree , and Bro . Gordon raised Bros . Gonzolgo and
Frazer for his own Lodge and Bro . L . L . Dutch for tho Thistle and and Hose Lodge . Bro . J . Bannerman , D . M . of tho Thistle and Eose Lodge , thanked tho Lodgo and the acting Master for their kindness . Bro . Gordon said it was a pleasnro to confer a favour on a Sister Lodgo ; tho Clyde had often asked the same favour of others , and was never better pleased then wheu sho could return such kindness .

W . of No . 860 , who was made an honorary member of the Dramatic
Lodge at the last meeting . The Lodge having been raised , the E . W . M . asked Bro . Fergerson , I . P . M . of St . John ' s , Dalmuir , to work the 3 rd degree , which ho did in the style locally known as the Vale of Leven working , Bro . Wheeler acting as his Senior Deacon , and Bro . Walter was duly raised .
