Koberfc Beveridge , M . D ., the Prov . Grand Master of Aberdeen City , resolved that a charter ahould be issued to Lodge Bon Accord , Aberdeen . Satisfactory reports of the condition of the Lodges and of the state of Masonry within their Provinces were submitted from the Prov . Grand Masters of the Middle Ward of Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire by Bros . J . Clark Forrest and Colonel Sir Archibald C .

Campbell , of Blythswood , Bart ., who hacl already received the thanks of the Grand Committee . A copy waa submitted of the annual report of Proceedinga of the P . G . L . of Peebles and Selkirkshirea , in which a favourable view of the present state of Masonry in thafc Province waa given ; and thanks were voted to the Provincial Grand Lodge for its diligence . Grand Lodge then proceeded to the election of

thirteen members of Grand Committee , when the following were chosen , namely , Bros . Dr . J . Falconer Proxy District Grand Master New South Walea , Dr . J . Middleton , Colonel J . T . Stewart Proxy Provincial Grand Master Peru , J . D . Duncan Proxy Provincial Grand Master Newfoundland , James Crichton Master of Lodge 1 , David Hume Maater of Lodge 520 , George Fisher Grand Bible Bearer , J .

Guthrie Smith , Andrew Kerr , John Morgan Maater 219 , Councillor Alexander Henry , Peter Sinclair , and Francis S . Melville . Brother MaoFarlane , Dumbarton , proposed , and Bro . M'Nidder seconded the following motion : " That Grand Lodge expresses disapproval of the custom which prevails in some places of using Masonio emblems for busineas purposes ( other than those properly pertaining to the

Craft ) , and direct daughter Lodges to exhort any of their membera , who may be guilty of this un-Masonic and mercenary practice , to discontinue the same . " In supporting thia resolution , Bro . Mac Farlane said the main object was to get afc the principal offenders with regard to Masonic emblems—he referred to the brethren in con . nection with the public bouse interest . He did nofc desire to give a

teetotal lecture—he was not a teetotaller himself—bufc ho did nofc see why those brethren ahould use Masonio emblems for the purpose of promoting their trade . He had seen them in Aberdeen and in his own town , and doubtless they were to be seen in almoafc every town of any size . After aome diacussion aa to the exact terma of the resolution , Bro . W . Officer moved the previous question . He held that

Grand Lodge ahould nofc deal with this matter , aa ifc involved delicate questions .
