Wolverhampton Conservative Association , a member of the Wolverhampton Deanery Conservative Club , and a member of the Constitutional Club , London .
The remains of the late Col . Foster Gough were interred in the family vault , at the Cemetery , Wolverhampton , with the customary Masonic ceremony and partial military honours . The officers and men of the 3 rd V . B . South Staffordshire Regiment assembled at the Drill Hall , the
officers present being Major Pritchard , Major Thorne , Major Morgan , Capt . Chapman , Capt . Underhill and Capt . Guy . Headed by the battalion band , they marched to the residence of the deceased , Graisley , where the funeral procession was formed . The coffin was covered

into a guard of hononr at the Cemetery , and the procession , with tbe band still playing its mournful music , slowly wended its way up to tho main pathway . A short distance from the Cemetery Church the coffin was met by the Rev . E . F . Wanstall , vicar of St . Paul ' s , Wolverhampton , and by the Rev . W . F . Bradley , St . Peter ' s , Westbromwich ,

Provincial Grand Chaplain of Staffordshire ( who wore his regalia ) , and by them couducted into the church . After the usual short service there the coffin was brought to the grave side , a Volunteer guard having meanwhile been formed into a hollow square surrounding the spot . The
Rev . W . F . Bradley , after reciting the customary interment formula in impressive tones ( tho Volunteers meanwhile having raised their helmets ) , delivered a short address . Thoy had that day hid to rest one whom to know was to love , whose gifts wore great and well applied . Only
a week ago the lat 9 Col . Gough had stated that he had within a very short time paid no fewer than fifty visits in connection with Freemasonry work . He had been a good soul to others , and might tbe Great Architect of the Universe be good to him ! They knew how he had not
only recently spent large sums of money for that Masonic movement , but how also before that large sums of his private income had been expended for the benefit of the Volunteers . Greatly respected by Volunteers and Freemasons alike , he had gone to his rest , and he could only hope that a worthy

ordinary business was suspended . A resolution was passed expressing sympathy with the family , and recording the high appreciation entertained by the Lodge of the deceased gentleman ' s zeal for the promotion of the best interests of Freemasonry in that Province . Tho "Dead March" in
" Saul" was played by Bro . Roper , Mus . Baa , the members of the Lodge standing . In consequence of the death of Col . Gough , tho Masonic ball proposed to be held iu the Town Hall , Wednesbury , under the auspices of the members of St . The annual ball of tho Smyth Lodge , No . 2284 , was held at Grimsby Town Hall , last week , and was certainly a successful social event . The W . M . Bro . Councillor Carter , in the full determination that the ball during his Mastership should not be inferior to its predecessors , engaged the
fine band of the Royal Engineers , numbering thirty performers , so that the music was the best that conld be obtained ; and brethren , in addition to those of the Pelham Pillar Lodge , accompanied by their lady friends , to the
number of over two hundred , did full justice to the treat provided for them . The thanks of the brethren are due to tbe W . M ., and his Officers who assisted him so ably on the occasion .
Messrs . Raphael Tuck and Sons have been honoured with Her Majesty ' s commands to publish a fac-simile of the letter addressed by tho Qneen to the Nation in reference to the death of the Duke of Clarence and Avondale . The letter will be isBued in the conrse of
this month , iu a form suitable for framing , with an appropriate border now being designed for it by Mr . Poynter , R . A . This plate , produced by fac-simile process , will be sold at Is , and as an etching at one guinea . On the 26 th ult tha members of the St . Lawrence Lodge , No . 2330 , held their annual ball in tho Victoria Hall , Pudsey . Tho hall was elaborately decorated for tho occasion . The proceedings opened with a children's ball , tho music for which wa 3 played by Bro . Swaine . . Bros . VVilkiusoti , Riley , Jjootti , and Cromaek assisted in entertaining
the children , who wen ; each presented whh a . prism from a Christmastree .
