Croydon Mark Lodge , No . 198 . —An emergency meeting of this Mark Lodge was held at tho Greyhound Hotel , Croydon , on Friday , Gth inst ., when there wore present W . Bros . Geo . Yaxloy W . M ., J . K . Pitt J . W ., W . J . Nicholls S . O ., R . W . Brown J . O ., H . A . Pocock Sec , Samnel Griffiths S . D ., W . J . Purvis J . D ., Geo . Haddock D . C , A . Long I . G ., and Wm . Grant Tyler ; also the V . W . Bros . Stevens

P . G . J . O ., Byron Ridge . G . Grossmith , Thos . P . Dickin , and A . Haynes . Visitors—Bro . A . J . Thomas , of tho Mallet and Chisel Lodge , and Bro . Sneadd . The Lodge was opened by Bros . Stevens as W . M ., Bro . Yaxley acting as P . M ., Sheadd S . W ., Nicholls M . O ., Griffiths S . O ., Haynes J . O ., and Thomas Organist . The minutes of the consecration meeting wero read and confirmed , and ballots taken for

brethren proposed at that meeting for advancement , and also for Bros . Haynes , of St . Andrews , No . 63 , and Wohlgemuth of Fowke , No . 19 , as joining members . Bros . Dickin , Ridge , and Grossmith were then admitted and advanced to the honourable degree . Snbsequently Bro . Dickin was elected as Treasurer , and the W . M . then

appointed and invested Bro . Ridge as Organist and Bro . Grossmith as W . S . Propositions were taken for two candidates for advancement to be balloted for at the next meeting , and after some further routine business the Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment , separating at an early hour .

Northern Counties Lodge , No . 406 . —The regular meet , ing of this Lodge took place on tho 4 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Maple-street , Newcastle-on-Tyne . Bros . W . Monday W . M ., R . Knox I . P . M ., T . Halliday S . W ., T . Armstrong J . W ., R . L . Armstrong Secretary and Treasurer , J . S . Bell as S . D ., R . Samon J . D ., G . Lain I . G ., G . Lox and S . M . Harris Stewards , G . J . Lines Tyler , G . Kepperd

Organist . P . M . ' s Bros . Troulstom , W . S . Hugh , and Rysdive . The ballot was taken for four gentlemen , which proved successful , and they were then initiated . The Lodge being opened in the second degree , one brother was passed . The Lodge was then opened in the third , and four brethren raised , all three degrees being most excellently rendered by the W . M . The election of W . M . for the ensuing

year was then proceeded with ; it proved successful for Bro . J . Halliday S . W ., who was declared unanimously elected W . M . Bro . Punchion P . M . was elected Treasurer , and Bro . Lines Tyler . A vote of thanks was passed with acclamation to Bro . R . L . Armstrong , Secretary and Assistant Treasurer , the same being ordered to bo put on the minutes . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned

to refreshments , when the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given , those of the W . M . and the W . M . elect being most heartily responded to . Some capital harmony was also rendered by several of the brethren . Tho Tyler ' s toast brought the evening to a close . Amongst the visitors were Bros . H . T . Sewell W . M . 481 , G . Loads W . Salisbury Lodge of Instruction , No . 435 . —This Lodge held its weekly meeting on Thursday , the 5 th inst ., at theTJnion Tavern , Air-streefc , Regent-street . Present—Bros . Wray W . M ., Shand S . W ., Belfrage J . W ., T . Cull Sec , Bentley S . D ., Docker : J . D ., Atkins l . G . ; also Bros . G . Davis , W . Smith , Pearce , Smith , Giles , Smith , Willis . Business—The Lodge was opened , and the minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed . The W . M . then worked the ceremony of

initiation , Bro . Giles being the candidate . The first , second , fourth , fifth , sixth , and seventh sections were worked by the W . M ., and Bros . Davis and Cull . Bros . Atkins , Lodge 890 , and Bro . Smith , Lodge 1425 , were elected members . Bro . Shand S . W . was chosen W . M . for the ensuing week . The votes of the Lodge were given to Bro . Cull , for the case of Jessie Langley . The Lodge was then closed and adjourned to 12 th April .

Star in the East Lodge , No . 650 . —The monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at the Pier Hotel , Harwich , Essex , on Tuesday last , and was rendered specially interesting by the introduction for the first time , of an excellent harmonium , which had been purchased by subscription among the members . The popular W . M . Bro . G . Gard Pye , occupied the chair of K . S ., and worked the three degees with his accustomed ability . At the close of business , the brethren

sat down to the festive board , and much harmony prevailed . The recently appointed acting P . G . Sec , Bro . T . J . Railing , was present , and his health was warmly received . Lodge Star in the East is now in a very flourishing condition ; it has a goodly array of members , aud , through the exertions of its indefatigable Secretary , Bro . Basham , not only has it now become possessed of an harmonium , but its fur . niture has recently been renewed .

"William Preston Lodge of Instruction , No . 788 . — This Locige held its usual meeting on Friday , the 6 th inst ., at the Feathers Tavern , Upper George-street , Edgware-road . Present—Bros . George Tribbel W . M ., S . Godden S . W ., Geo . West J . W ., Aug . BraunSec , Rndderforth Treas ., Nichols S . D ., Hayes J . D ., Reid l . G .

Also present Bros . Hill , Kennard , & c , & c . The Lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes confirmed . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Hill being candidate . Bro . Hill then answered the questions for passing in a most exemplary manner . Bro , Preceptor Rndderforth asked tbe questions in the first section ,

the first section of the lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Barker was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation . Tho W . M . was highly complimented on hia working , ho is a very young member , but perfect and has a very pleasing style in his rendering .

ceremony of initiation was ably rehearsed , Bro . Townsend aotin » as candidate ; after this tho W . M . worked the first , second , and third sections of the lecture , assisted by tho brethren . The S . W . was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned .

Burdett Coutts Lodge of Instruction , No . 1278 . —Thia Lodge held its weekly meeting at the Approach Tavern , Approach , road , Victoria-park , on Friday , the Gth inst . Present—Bros . Geo . Perry W . M ., Toye S . W ., Allen J . W ., Ashbnrner P . M ., Finch S . D ., Witherick J . D ., Loveday l . G . Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of

initiation , Bro . Witherick as candidate . The 1 st and 2 nd sections of the lecture were worked by Bro . Allen . Bros . Toye , Allen , and Finch were appointed auditors . A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to Bro . Perry for the very able and careful manner in which he worked the ceremony for the first time , a record to that effect

to be placed in the minute book . The death of Bro . Thos . Lloyd sen ., one of the founders of tho Mother Lodge , was announced , and received with sorrowful expressions by the brethren present , aa he was very much respected in tho Parent Lodge . Bro . Toyo was elected W . M . for the ensuing week , aud the Lodge was closed in due form .

Falcon Lodge , No . 1416 . —The Archaeological Section of thia Lodge , accompanied by Bros . Eev . W . G , Lakes M . A . F . A . S ., Rev A . T . Atwood M . A . Rural Dean , and Rev . E . 0 . Camidge M . A ,, on Saturday visited the curious old church at Sand Button , and wero

most cordially received by the Rev . J . Reace and Mr . W . Small . They afterwards proceeded to inspect the the neighbouring churches of Kirby Wiske and Carlton Miniott , the Rev . J . J . Lloyd sen ., one of the founders of tho Mother Lodge , was announced , and received with sorrowful expressions by the brethren present , aa he was very much respected in tho Parent Lodge . Bro . Toyo was elected W . M . for the ensuing week , aud the Lodge was closed in due form .

Shackle , Humphries , Mash , Coughtrey , Demitz , & c . The Lodge was opened in due form . The minutes having been read and confirmed , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Demitz being the can . didate . The first five sections were then worked by Bro . Cull . Bro . Swallow was unanimously elected W . M . for next week , and the Lodge was closed .

of Bro . Chamberlin that , considering the prosperous state of tho Lodge , the sum of fifty pounds should be given as a donation to the Benevolent Fund . Mr . P . C . Castell , Mr . Powell and Mr . C . Linney ( brother to the W . M . ) , were initiated into Freemasonry by the W . M « Bro . Gnlton was raised to the degree of a M . M . Bro . Lionel Brough , comedian , was unanimously elected a joining member , and the Lodge was closed in due form .

Falcon Lodge , No . 1416 . —The Archaeological Section of thia Lodge , accompanied by Bros . Eev . W . G , Lakes M . A . F . A . S ., Rev A . T . Atwood M . A . Rural Dean , and Rev . E . 0 . Camidge M . A ,, on Saturday visited the curious old church at Sand Button , and wero

most cordially received by the Rev . J . Reace and Mr . W . Small . They afterwards proceeded to inspect the the neighbouring churches of Kirby Wiske and Carlton Miniott , the Rev . J . J . Pulleino M . A . and the Rev . R . D . Jackson respectively pointed out matters of interest connected with each .

Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , No . 1507 . —A meeting was held at the Metropolitan Club , King ' s-cross , on Tuesday , 10 th instant . Present—Bros . Hingham W . M ., Side S . W ., Stiles J .
