by tho W . M . The first sections of the first and second lectures worked by the Preceptor , Bro . Adams P . G . P ., to whoso kind instruction may bo justly attributed the excellent working of the officers of this Lodge . Bro . Side was unanimously elected W . Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday last at the Queen's Hotel , Micklegate , York , when there was a very laree attendance of brethren . The W . M . Bro . Thos . Cooper P . M . P . P . G . D . C ., was in the chair , and the whole of the officers were in their places . The business consisted of an initiation and a passing , which were thoroughly well worked , and
a successful ballot was taken for two candidates . The names of four gentlemen were proposed ancl seconded as candidates for Freemasonry . Jnst before tho closing of the Lodge , Bro . M . Millington rose , ancl said that he had a pleasing duty to perform , which was to hand over to the W . M . a cheque for ten guineas for the purpose of endowing the Master's chair in perpetuity with one vote in one of the Masonic
Charities . He said that since the Lodge was consecrated last August , up to the end of the year 1876 , there had been fourteen initiations , and it had been the wish of those fourteen brethren to join together in somo movement which should show to the Lodge tho satisfaction which they felt at having been admitted into Masonry , and the admiration which they cherished for its teachings , but especially as a
kind of testimony to the gratitude which they felt towards the W . M ., whose uniform kindness had been thoroughly appreciated , and whoso excellence as a man and a Mason was so universally acknowledged . Bro . J . Morgan , Bro . T . A . B . Turner , and Bro . T . T . Smith , all subscribers to the fund , added some remarks , all dwelling npon the warm fraternal feeling with which they regarded their excellent W . M ., who
was ever found so kind and ready , and who was so bright a Mason . The W . M . replied , thanking the fourteen brethren , in the name of the Lodge , and on behalf of himself , and moved that the gift be accepted , and that a record thereof , and of the names of the brethren , be placed on the minutes . This was seconded by tbe Treasurer ( Bro . G .
Balenford P . M . ) , and carried by acclamation . After the Lodge was closed , tho brethren , nnmbering nearly forty , met at refreshment , there being present numerous visitors from the York Lodge , 236 , Stockport , Selby , Newcastle , and from tho Regiment of the 6 th Carabineers , quartered in York Barracks . A very pleasant and social evening was spent .
Wolsey Lodge , No . 1656 , Hampton Wick . —This Lodge held an emergency meeting , at the White Hart Hotel , on Monday , tbe 9 th inst . The chair was taken shortly after 5 o ' clock by Bro . W . Hammond P . M . 201 , 1326 , 1512 , P . P . G . D . Middlesex , and he was supported by Bros . B . Sharp P . M . 84 S . W ., J . Bond P . M . 889 J . W ., A . Nuthall Treasurer , F . T . V . Honewell P . M . 889 Hon . Organist , T .
W . Ockenden Secretary , B . R . Aston S . D ., J . Hurst W . M . 1512 J . D ., T . C . Walls I . G ., and E . Andrews . A ballot was taken , and with a similar result , in favour of the initiation of Messrs . Jackson , Pinto , and Forge . These
gentlemen , with another , Mr . Taylor ( balloted for at the last meeting ) were then solemnly initiated into the mysteries of Fremasonry . Bro . W . Carwin , Scott , Richer and Featherstone having satisfactorily passed the necessary examination were entrusted and retired . performed . Bro . John Hammond , the Hon . P . M ., was unanimously elected an honorary member of the Lodge . Letters of apology for absence were received from tho R . W . Bro . Colonel Burdett , Prov . G . Master , Middlesex , P . G . W ., Bro . the Rev . F . J . C . de Crespigny P . M . 708 and Chaplain , Bro . John Hammond P . M . 201 , Bro . Jeffreys , A . H . Miller and others . All business being concluded , the Lodge
was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet . After the Loyal and Masonic toasts , the health of the Worshipful Master was proposed by Bro . Hill in his usual style , and was most heartily responded to . This young Lodge is fortunate in having so able and experienced a Mason as Bro . W . Hammond for W . M ,, and with the officers at his command there is no reason whatever why tho working throughout should ever leave anything to be desired . The toast of
the Visitors was warmly received , and several of the brethren acknowledged the compliment . Tbe health of tha Initiates was responded to by Bros . Taylor , Jackson , Pinto and Forge .
