The Companions shortly afterwards adjourned to the banquet room , and partook of a most enjoyable littlo dinner , tho preparing
and serving of whioh reflected tho greatest orodit on Brother and Mrs . Phillips . When the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts had been proposed , Comp . A . H . Jefferis P . Z . P . P . G . Soj . proposed tho health of the six newly exalted Companions , in pleasing terms , and tbe invitation was promptly and heartily responded to . Other toast 3 were honoured , and an enjoyable evening spent . In referenoe to the
unusually large number of exaltees , it is a significant fact that for some long time , when the Chapter held its meetings at Levenshulme , candidates were conspicuous by their absence , in addition to which the membership became smaller by degrees and beautifully loss , but no sooner is a removal to the Freemasons' Hall resolved upon , than in less than six months seven brethren are exalted , in addition to one
joining member , and there is not the shadow of a doubt , despite certain trilling drawbacks , that this East Lancashire headquarters of Freemasonry is , on account of its central position , well suited to the general requirements for conducting Masonio business , and should in all cases , when opportunities present themselves , be made use of for snoh purposes in preference to Hotels . Our experience of tho buildiug for many years is that it is equal to the general demands made
upon it , and that the Manager and Manageress ( Bro . and Mrs . Phillips ) , assisted by a competent and experienced staff , are capable of catering for the most fastidious , in addition to which Brother Wm . Jaffrey ( Chairman of the Club ) and the Committee do all in their power , with a liberal hand , to give satisfaction , either when providing banquets or catering for soirees , & c , an undeniable proof of this being the universal satisfaction we have heard expressed by the ladies .
