CANDIDATES FOR THE SCHOOLS .

fT ^ HE list of applicants approved for the October election JL of the Royal 'Masonic Institution for Girls contains the names of thirty-three children , of whom two only are last chance cases . Eighteen of the candidates have made previous application , the remaining fifteen appearing on the list for the first time .

For the Boys School there is a list of thirty-five applicants , four of whom will be excluded from further contests , by the age limit rule , if unsuccessful at the autumn poll . Only twelve of the candidates come forward from the April election , the new cases numbering twenty-three .

npHIS new Lodge was consecrated last month at the I Masonic Temple , New Cross Street , Margate , by Dr . W . H . Robins Grand Chaplain , Vicar of Gillingham . Among the guests were Minor Canon Blackie , of Rochester Cathedral .

BEACH CHAPTER .

A FURTHER compliment has been paid to the much respected head of the Craft and Arch in Hampshire , Bro . W . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., by the establishment of the Beach Chapter , attached to the Border Lodge , No . 2475 , which was consecrated at the White Hart Hotel , Blackwater , on Monday , 26 th ult .

The Provincial Grand Superintendent himself officiated at the Consecration , being assisted by Comp . Major J . E . LeFeuvre Prov . G . H ., and other Prov . G . Officers . Comp . Rev . J . Scott-Ramsey ( Basingstoke ) was installed

as Z ., Colonel Ponsonby-Watts as H ., T . Martin as J ., Colonel Lushington as Scribe E ., and A . M . Kennett as Director of Ceremonies . A banquet followed , at which the customary toasts were honoured .

ON Thursday , 6 th mst ., this Cnapter , attached to United Chatham Lodge of Benevolence , No . 184 , was consecrated by Earl Amherst Pro G . Z . of England Prov . G . Superintendent of Kent , at the Masonic Temple , Park Road ,

New Brompton . His Lordship was most ably assisted by Comps . J . S . Eastes Prov . G . H ., A . Spencer Prov . G . S . E ., Captain F . Powell Prov . G . S . N ., W . Russell Prov . G . Treasurer , and many others .

Thomas Manley , a well known member of the Leopold Lodge , No . 1571 , on the death of his beloved wife , whose remains were interred at Norwood Cemetery , on Thursday , 6 th inst . We trust our Brother and the members of his family will derive some small comfort from the general expressions of sympath y tendered them by members ol the Craft .
