BBO . H . VENN . O 0 K Obituary List to-day must record the death of Bro . H . Fenn P . M . P . Z . Paat Grand Steward of England , who was initiated in the Gihon Lodge , No . 49 , and was a joining member of the Globe Lodgo , No . 23 , which he represented on the Board of Grand Stewards . Bro . Venn

was a Eoyal Arch Mason , a Past Master of fche Old Kent ( T . I . ) Mark Lodgo , and P . G . M . O . of the Mark Grand Lodge ; he had taken the 18 th degree , or Rose Croix Degree , in tho Ancient aud Accepted Rite , and was a member of the Allied Degrees , and of the Order of Rome

and the Red Gross of Constantine . In all these various branches of our Masonic System , Bro . Venn had laboured diligently and conscientiously , and was greatly respected by those wifch whom ho came in contact . Ho will also be rcmombored iu connection with our Schools and the Benevolent Institution . He had served on the House and

Audit Committees of fche Boys' School , and on the Audit Committee of tbe Girls ' . He was also a Vice-President of tho Boys' School , and a Life Governor of tho Girls' and Benevolent Institution , and had served the Office of Steward in their behalf at some eight or nine Festivals .

Torquay is fortunate in possessing at least two Masons of worldwide renown , and the many friends of Bro . John Lane P . M . 1402 P . P . G . R . ( Devon ) will be pleased to boar that ho ia now on the road to recovery from hia recent severe illness . Bro . Lane ' s reputation was made at a bound by his stupendous work , dedicated to H . R . H . fche Prince of Wales M . W . G . M ., on Masonio Records , and since then he

haa fully maintained his position as a Masonio author by tho publication of Lista of Lodges , & c . Amongst the honours accorded him has heen his election na P . G . S . W . of Iowa , U . S . A ., and now comoa a recognition of merit , afc home by hia election aa honorary member of Lodge St . John the Baptist , No . 39 , Exeter . This compliment ia all the more valuable because it has only been paid to three others , each of whom haa been elected in appreciation of distinguished services

to the Craft . No . 39 is tho senior Lodge in tbe West of England , and their warrant ia the oldest original document of the kind in this country , dating from 1732 , most of the other old Lodgea having had warrants of confirmation on losing their original charters , by fire or otherwise . Bro . Lane is now honorary member of fche two senior Lodgea in Devon , the other being St . John'a , No . 70 , Plymouth . — Western Daily Mercury .

Miss Minnio Freeman has just been the recipient , of a souvenir of the recent visit to Brighton of hia Royal Hi ghness the Duko of Connaught , on the occasion of his installation as Provincial Grand Master of fcho Mark Masons of Sussex .
