THE Anniversary Meeting of this Lodgo , and tho installation of the Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , took place on Wednesday , the 10 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Gower-street , Derby . W . who said that ho hoped tho brethren would

rall y round the Master during his year , and givo evidence by their presence of tho interest they took in tho prosperity of tho Lodgo , ho was quite sure that the previous performances of the W . M . was a . sufficient guarantee that tho work of tho Lodge wonkl bo efficiently dono , and the pleasure of doina that work would bo veiv much

enhanced if ho was supported by the attendance of tho members , he Wished him a very happy and prosperous year . Tho toast was very heartil y received , and Bro . Frazer in responding delivered a very interesting disconrso on tho advantages that wo almost unconsciousl y receive from Freemasonry , giving several illustrations of the many ways in which its grand principles might be

realised ; how brothor might meet brother in Lodge a perfeot stranger , expecting nover to soo him more , bnt thero were occasions when that brother ' s prosence and influence might bo felt . He had then in hia mind an instance of a brother from a far-off land who had visited tho Arboretum Lodge , and whom ho met casually somo time after at a railway station , and that meeting was of so pleasant

a character , and infnsod such a gloam of snnshino iuto his heart as to onablo him to dispel tho gloom of a very dark winter day . Ho thanked tho brethron for tho honour thoy had conferred on him that clay , and promised that his best efforts would bo used to promote tho prosperity of tho Lodgo during tho timo ho occupied the chair . The W . M . then proposed tho health of tho I . P . M . Bro . Cooper , and after

referring to tho kindly way in which ho had always acted with tho brethren , oxprcssod tho satisfaction he felt , nt the end of Bro . Cooper ' s year , of being able to tell him that so well had his work beon dono , and so highly was he esteemed , that ho had tho very great pleasuro of presenting him , in tho name of the Lodge , with a Past Master ' s iowol , which he hopod to see on hia breast for many years in tho

Arborotnm Lodgo . Bro . Cooper , in responding , thanked tho brethron for thoir kindnoss to him ; he conld not say that he was always satis , fied with his work as Master of the Lodge , but thoy knew that ho had reasons for not being able to do so well as he should havo liked . Ho was very prond of tho handsome jewel just presented to him , and viewed it as tho emblem of very pleasant associations , and now that

he had retired from the chair , he wished to express his obligations to the Past Masters , Officers , and tho brethren for their hearty support during the past year . Tho health of the Past Mastors of the Lodge was proposed by Bro . Cay , who drew a fancy picture in which he detailed their several services to tho Lodge . Bro . Brown P . M . responded , thanking the brethren for the hearty way in whioh they

had received the toast ; and Bro . Wright P . M . hoped tho fancy picture of Bro . Cay would tako a practical form , and that they would see the portraits of the Past Masters of the Lodge round tho room . Tho health of the Visitors , the Officers of tho Lodge , and the T yler ' s toast brought to a conclusion one of the most successful meetings of the Lodge .

THE annual meeting of this Lodge was held on 15 th March , at the Metham Masonic Hall , Caroline-place , Stonehouse . The W . M . elect was Bro . Cooper , in responding , thanked tho brethron for thoir kindnoss to him ; he conld not say that he was always satis , fied with his work as Master of the Lodge , but thoy knew that ho had reasons for not being able to do so well as he should havo liked . Ho was very prond of tho handsome jewel just presented to him , and viewed it as tho emblem of very pleasant associations , and now that

he had retired from the chair , he wished to express his obligations to the Past Masters , Officers , and tho brethren for their hearty support during the past year . Tho health of the Past Mastors of the Lodge was proposed by Bro . Cay , who drew a fancy picture in which he detailed their several services to tho Lodge . Bro . Brown P . M . responded , thanking the brethren for the hearty way in whioh they

had received the toast ; and Bro . Wright P . M . hoped tho fancy picture of Bro . Cay would tako a practical form , and that they would see the portraits of the Past Masters of the Lodge round tho room . Tho health of the Visitors , the Officers of tho Lodge , and the T yler ' s toast brought to a conclusion one of the most successful meetings of the Lodge .
