A ., and was entrusted . Lodge was advanced and tho ceremony of passing rehearsed in a most

excellent manner , Bvo . Thorpe being the candidate . The W . M . worked tho third section of tho lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Lodge boing closed to tho first degree , tho W . M . worked tho first section of that lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bros . Wilson of tho Excelsior Lodgo No . 1155 and Thorpo of Faith Lodgo No . Hi wore duly elected members . Bro . Hine was appointed to preside at tho next meeting , after which Lodgo was closed and adjourned .

The Gilbert Greenall Lodge , Wo . 1250 , Warrington , West Lancashire . —Tho regular meeting of this Lodgo was held on the 9 th inst . at the Masonic Eooms , Sankoy Street . In tho unavoidable absence of the W . M . ( Bro . T . W . Sutton ) tho Chair was taken by the I . P . M . ( Bro . D . W . Finney P . M . Prov . G . D . C . West Lane ) , who was supported by Bros . J . H . Galloway S . W ., S . Wallhead J . W .,

Hutchinson S . D ., GeorgeCropper J . D ., Taylor I . G ., Domville Tyler , W . Woods P . M ., P . J . Edelsten P . M ., Baird , Maokey , John Jones , George Fairhurst , J . H . Potter , A . F . G . The Lodgo was duly constituted , after which the minutes of the last

meeting wero read and confirmed . Tho J . W . ( Bro . S . Wallhead ) thereupon rose to move " that the sum of Fifteen Guineas ( £ 15 15 s ) be voted from the Funds of tho Lodgo in augmentation of tho Eight W . Bro . Sir Gilbert Greenall's List . " Bro . Greenall represents the Lodge as Steward for the Boys' School , and the motion was gracefully and unanimously agreed to after being seconded by the acting W . M . Somo routine matter was then gone through , after which the

Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . Bro . Finney presided , and gave the usual Loyal and Masonic Toasts , which were well and truly honoured . Bro . Galloway S . W . responded for the absent W . M . ( Bro . Sutton ) , himself and Officers , and Bro . J . Paul Eylands made a very graceful reply in answer to " the Visitors . " A most enjoyable evening was spent , and the brethren separated about 10 o ' clock in great good fellowship .

and Booth 710 wero unrnimonsly elected members . Bro . Power was elected W . M . for Tnesday , the 30 th inst . On Tuesday next the Fifteen Sections will bo worked . The Great City Lodge , No . 1426 . —The final meeting of the season was held on Saturday evening , 13 th March , at the Cannonstreet Hotel . Bros . George W . Blackie W . M ., Freeman I . P . M . Acting S . W ., Hamer J . W ., N . B . Headon P . M . Treas . and Acting Sec , P . M . ' s Stevens , Seex and Stanway , a goodly array of members and tho following Visitors : —C . J . Perceval W . was then opened in the second and third degrees , and Bro . Murdoch was most impressively raised to the sublimo degree of M . M . The Lodge was resumed to tho second degree and Bro . Jury was passed to tho degree of F . C . The Lodge having been lowered to the first degree , the next bnsiness before it was to proceed to the election of a W . M . for tho ensuing year . As Bro . Catchpole S . W . resigned that

appointment at the last Lodge , the Brother next in order for promotion was Bro . Hamer the J . W ., and after a ballot he was all bnt unanimously elected , there being but ono vote given for one who was not a candidate for the office . Bro . Hamer returned thanks and said he would do everything in his power to deserve the honour conferred upon him . The Lodge then proceeded to tho election of a Treasurer ,

and Bro . N . B . Headon P . M . was unanimously re-elected to that office , and a similar result was obtained in tho case of Bro . Steedman P . M . as Tyler of the Lodge . Some ordinary business was transacted and the Lodge was closed . The brethren then adjourned to the pillar room for refreshment , which was well served , and at its conclusion the W . M . proposed tho usual formal Loyal and Masonic toasts , which wero duly honoured , after which Bro . Stevens P . M . proposed the

health of the W . M . Bro . Blackie , and said lie was sure that every Brother would agree with him when he said that ho had carried out the bnsiness of the Lodgo in a kind , courteous and exemplary manner . As that was the last time ho would preside at tho banquet table , he was entitled to their respect and gratitude for tho mannor in which he had upheld tho dignity of tho Lodgo in tho past twelve months . The W . M . said he had indeed been overpaid for anything he had done in

their service , but having elevated him to that high position , he felt called upon to perform the duties of it to tho best of his ability , and if they wero satisfied with what ho had done ho conld not be otherwise so . Ho had done what ho considered to be right , without consulting ono side or another , but thoro was yet one other matter that ho should yet have to do boforo the close of his year of office ,

which was to represent tho Lodgo at the next Festival for the Girls ' School . Having alluded to tho liberal subscriptions ho had received from the Lodge and tho brethren , he thanked them sincerely for tho cordial manner in which they had responded to the toast whioh had been proposed . Tho Visitors were noxt proposed , to whioh many of tho visiting brethren responded . Bro . Headon P . M ., said ho had boon

permitted by the W . M . to propose a special toast , which was the health of Bro . Parker , who was about to proceed to Australia , South Africa , and Afghanistan , and to wish him God speed on his voyage , and a safe return to his native country , a toast which was drnnk with great cordiality . Bro . Parker said ho felt very deeply tho words which had fallen from tho lips of their Treasurer , and said that during

his journey , he intended to visit as many Lodges as ho could , and he hoped to be blessed with healthduriug his trip to tho Antipodes . The next toast was that of the Past Masters of the Lodge . Tho WM . enumerated their good qualities and the assistance he had received from them . Bro . Stanway returned thanks . Tho W . M . said tho next toast was ono that gave him a great deal of pleasure to propose , aa it

was tho health of Bro . Hamer the W . M . elect who he believed would occupy the chair in a proper and efficiont mannor . It was a great honour at any time for a brother to bo placed in the position of W . M ., but in his case it was especially so , as he was the first initiate of tho Lodgo who had arrived at that eminence . He was confident he was the sort of man who was likely to feel tho responsibility of tho

situation , and would also feel the necessity of keeping np the good working of the Lodge , and that in his hands tho prestige of the Lodge would lose none of its lustre . Bro . Hamer thanked the W . M . for proposing his health , and tho brethren for having so heartily responded to it ; in electing him as Master , he might say that while he felt the honour he also felt tho responsibility . He had ambition—ho thought

a laudable ambition—to occupy tho chair , and ho assured them that ho would do everything in his power to carry out the duties in an efficient manner ; if thero were any shortcomings on hia part , he must throw himself upon their indulgence . The health of Bro . Headon P . M . and Treasurer was then proposed in highly complimentary

terms by the W . M ., which that brother briefly acknowledged , thanking the brethren for the renewed confidence they had placed in him by again electing him as their Treasurer . Somo other toasts were given , and the evening was spent in complete harmony , tho cause of charity not boing forgotten .

Btirdett Coutts Lodge of Instruction , —A meeting was held at tho Salmon and Ball , Bethnal Green Iload , E ., on Wednesdav 10 th March . Present : —Bros . Clarko W . M ., Abrahams S . W ., Ward J . Howe . After preliminaries Bro . Brittain answered the questions leading to tho second degree , and tho ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Christian acting as candidate . Tho Lodgo was resumed , and the W . M . worked the first and second , Bro . Christian ' tho third and fourth sections of tho first lecture . Lodgo was closed in duo form .

Marquess of Ripon Lodge of Instruction . —At tho Pem . bury Tavern , Amhurst-road , Hackney , on 15 th inst . Bros . Finch W . M ., E . Olley S . W ., McDowell J . W ., Jacob S . D ., Droscher J . D ., Martin I . G ., J . Lorkin Secretary , C . Lorkin Preceptor . Lodgo was opened in due form , and the minutes confirmed . Bro . J . Lorkin , as candidate , was

interrogated , entrusted , and raised to tho sublimo degree of Master Mason . Bro . J . Lorkin workod the first section of tho lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Droscher was elected a member , and Bro . E . Olley appointed W . M . for the ensuing week . Lodge was then closed in due form and adjourned until Monday , 6 th April , at eight o ' clock .

Bro . Parker said ho felt very deeply tho words which had fallen from tho lips of their Treasurer , and said that during

his journey , he intended to visit as many Lodges as ho could , and he hoped to be blessed with healthduriug his trip to tho Antipodes . The next toast was that of the Past Masters of the Lodge . Tho WM . enumerated their good qualities and the assistance he had received from them . Bro . Stanway returned thanks . Tho W . M . said tho next toast was ono that gave him a great deal of pleasure to propose , aa it

was tho health of Bro . Hamer the W . M . elect who he believed would occupy the chair in a proper and efficiont mannor . It was a great honour at any time for a brother to bo placed in the position of W . M ., but in his case it was especially so , as he was the first initiate of tho Lodgo who had arrived at that eminence . He was confident he was the sort of man who was likely to feel tho responsibility of tho

situation , and would also feel the necessity of keeping np the good working of the Lodge , and that in his hands tho prestige of the Lodge would lose none of its lustre . Bro . Hamer thanked the W . M . for proposing his health , and tho brethren for having so heartily responded to it ; in electing him as Master , he might say that while he felt the honour he also felt tho responsibility . He had ambition—ho thought

a laudable ambition—to occupy tho chair , and ho assured them that ho would do everything in his power to carry out the duties in an efficient manner ; if thero were any shortcomings on hia part , he must throw himself upon their indulgence . The health of Bro . Headon P . M . and Treasurer was then proposed in highly complimentary

terms by the W . M ., which that brother briefly acknowledged , thanking the brethren for the renewed confidence they had placed in him by again electing him as their Treasurer . Somo other toasts were given , and the evening was spent in complete harmony , tho cause of charity not boing forgotten .

Tho Lodgo was resumed , and the W . M . worked the first and second , Bro . Christian ' tho third and fourth sections of tho first lecture . Lodgo was closed in duo form .

Marquess of Ripon Lodge of Instruction . —At tho Pem . bury Tavern , Amhurst-road , Hackney , on 15 th inst . Bros . Finch W . M ., E . Olley S . W ., McDowell J . W ., Jacob S . D ., Droscher J . D ., Martin I . G ., J . Lorkin Secretary , C . Lorkin Preceptor . Lodgo was opened in due form , and the minutes confirmed . Bro . J . Lorkin , as candidate , was

interrogated , entrusted , and raised to tho sublimo degree of Master Mason . Bro . J . Lorkin workod the first section of tho lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Droscher was elected a member , and Bro . E . Olley appointed W . M . for the ensuing week . Lodge was then closed in due form and adjourned until Monday , 6 th April , at eight o ' clock .
