like to have a Chapter attached to the Lodge , and the J . W . moved and S . W . seconded a proposition , that steps be taken to carry out the suggestion . The Lodge was then closed until December , and tho brethren , 48 in numbers , repaired to the Holborn Eestaurant , where a banquet was provided by Bro . Gordon , superintended by Bro . J . Hamp . Tho customary toasts wore given and replied to , and a most pleasant evening passed .

A letter of coudoleuce was ordered to bo sent to the widow of the late Comp . Edwin Harris P . Z ., whose death occurred on the 10 th instant . Bro . Harris was greatly respected , and his loss is deeply regretted . The Chapter was closed until January 1878 . Comp . Louis Beck was present as a visitor .

New Emsbury Park Lodge , No . 1695 . —This new Lodge held its first regular meeting on Tuesday last , at Bro . J . Pigot ' s , Finsbury Park Tavern . The Officers were in full attendance , and Messrs . James Newling Thompson , George David Edmunds , Thomas Crane , George Benjamin Carey were initiated , the duty being divided between Bros . Past Masters Davis and Pigot . Bros . Alfred Ayden

and Thomas Jackson were accepted as joining members . A banquet followed , which was most admirably served by mine host of Ye Taverne . We regret the crowded state of our columns precludes a lengthened report ; however , we cannot help remarking that the perfect harmony that exists in this Lodge may be well followed by

many of the Fraternity . The W . M ., Bro . W . T . Purkiss , is ono we are ever pleased to greet , and his kind genial manner and smiling face secures him the universal respect of tho brotherhood . On the motion of Bro . Littell P . M ., seconded by Bro . Bates P . M ., the Lodge unanimously voted ten guineas to tho Mansion House Indian Famine Fund . The Lodgo being closed , the brethren sat down to a banquet , and the usual Masonic toasts were duly proposed and honoured . Some excellent songs were well rendered by Bros . Seymour Smith , Dodson , Wallington , Weige and others , and a most enjoyable evening spent .

London Masonic Club Lodge of instruction . —We understand that at the meeting on Monday next , 22 nd inst ., Bro . Smallpiece , Secretary of the Emulation Lodge , will be appointed Preceptor . It is also expected that Bros . 0 . J . Hogg and J . E . Shand will be elected Treasurer and Secretary respectivel y-

Northern Counties Lodge of Instruction , No . 406 , — At the meeting held on the 9 th iust ,, at the Masonic Hall , Maplestreet , Newcastle-on-Tyne , Bro . W . Foulsham P . P . G . J . like to have a Chapter attached to the Lodge , and the J . W . moved and S . W . seconded a proposition , that steps be taken to carry out the suggestion . The Lodge was then closed until December , and tho brethren , 48 in numbers , repaired to the Holborn Eestaurant , where a banquet was provided by Bro . Gordon , superintended by Bro . J . Hamp . Tho customary toasts wore given and replied to , and a most pleasant evening passed .

Mount Lebanon Chapter , No . 73 . —A Convocation was held on the 11 th instant , at tbe Bridge House Hotel , London-bridge . Comp . J . Baldwin Z ., J . Mason H ., F . Walters P . P . G . A . S . Middlesex P . Z . as J . The Chapter was opened and the minutes were confirmed .

A letter of coudoleuce was ordered to bo sent to the widow of the late Comp . Edwin Harris P . Z ., whose death occurred on the 10 th instant . Bro . Harris was greatly respected , and his loss is deeply regretted . The Chapter was closed until January 1878 . Comp . Louis Beck was present as a visitor .

Grladsmuir Chapter , No . 1385 . —Mec afc the Eed Lion Hotel , Barnot , on Thursday last . Bro . Hoyle was exalted , ancl the Officers for the ensuing year elected as follow : — Comps . H . Edwards Z ., Dr . Livingston H ., and the others each advanced a step .

Earl Spencer Lodge , No . 1420 . —The regular monthly meeting of this young and prosperous Lodge was held on the 16 tii ult ., at the Swan Hotel , Battersea-bridge . Present—Bros . John Gibson W . M . The Lodge was then closed , aud tho brethren adjourned to refreshment , and passed a very pleasant evening .

New Emsbury Park Lodge , No . 1695 . —This new Lodge held its first regular meeting on Tuesday last , at Bro . J . Pigot ' s , Finsbury Park Tavern . The Officers were in full attendance , and Messrs . James Newling Thompson , George David Edmunds , Thomas Crane , George Benjamin Carey were initiated , the duty being divided between Bros . Past Masters Davis and Pigot . Bros . Alfred Ayden

and Thomas Jackson were accepted as joining members . A banquet followed , which was most admirably served by mine host of Ye Taverne . We regret the crowded state of our columns precludes a lengthened report ; however , we cannot help remarking that the perfect harmony that exists in this Lodge may be well followed by

many of the Fraternity . The W . M ., Bro . W . T . Purkiss , is ono we are ever pleased to greet , and his kind genial manner and smiling face secures him the universal respect of tho brotherhood . The Lodge was opened in due form aud the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Walter Johnsou was raised to the 3 rd degree , and Bro . Charles Dalrymple Scott was passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . Messrs . J . Louis Cornee , G . W . Kidd , E . J . Bodell , and W . T . Bodell were initiated into tho Order .

On the motion of Bro . Littell P . M ., seconded by Bro . Bates P . M ., the Lodge unanimously voted ten guineas to tho Mansion House Indian Famine Fund . The Lodgo being closed , the brethren sat down to a banquet , and the usual Masonic toasts were duly proposed and honoured . Some excellent songs were well rendered by Bros . Seymour Smith , Dodson , Wallington , Weige and others , and a most enjoyable evening spent .

London Masonic Club Lodge of instruction . —We understand that at the meeting on Monday next , 22 nd inst ., Bro . Smallpiece , Secretary of the Emulation Lodge , will be appointed Preceptor . It is also expected that Bros . 0 . J . Hogg and J . E . Shand will be elected Treasurer and Secretary respectivel y-

Northern Counties Lodge of Instruction , No . 406 , — At the meeting held on the 9 th iust ,, at the Masonic Hall , Maplestreet , Newcastle-on-Tyne , Bro . W . Foulsham P . P . G . J . W . on behalf of tho Lodge , presented to Bro . W . S . Hughes P . M . P . P . G . J . D . a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel , in recognition of tho great zeal ind exertion he had used iu connection with the Lodo-o whilst

actineas its Secretary , a position he has held siuce its foundation . Bro . Hughes suitably acknowledged the compliment . After Lodge had oeen closed the brethren sapped together ; tho usual toasts meeting a hearty reception .
